The Need for a Third Gender Option

Hello Community,I hope this post finds you well. Today, I want to open up a conversation about a topic that's been lingering in MEWS feedback portal – the addition of a third gender option in the Guest Profiles.In the MEWS feedback portal, there are currently three feature requests addressing this issue:Add Gender as Handling Criteria for Hostels (13 votes) Add Non-Binary as Genderline Check-In (120 votes) Add Non-Binary as Gender (26 votes)Surprisingly, all these requests are currently labeled as "Unlikely," with no roadmap commitment from the product team.I've been in touch with some hostels, particularly those offering female-only dorms. For them, having gender information before guests arrive is crucial. However, the current online check-in process only provides the choice between male and female, leaving out a significant portion, or simply not ask for this information.I'm curious to hear from other organizations. Do you consider gender information important for online check-in? A

Issue with Mews Charging Newly Added Card Instead of VCC

Hi ,We've encountered an issue where, when a guest adds an extra payment method via the Guest Portal, Mews automatically charges the newly added card instead of the VCC, even when the nights are meant to be paid by a VCC.This is causing a lot of problems, as guests might not expect their personal card to be charged when the virtual card from the OTA should cover the stay. We have set up proper routings for Booking.com and Expedia, so the reception knows these reservations should be paid via VCC.Has anyone else experienced this issue? I have noticed that this was an issue before but that 4 months ago it was resolved. However I’m experiencing the issue now. Thanks in advance for your insights!Best,Emilie

Online Check in

Good afternoon,Is anyone else experiencing issues with the Online Check-in process displaying the upgraded room category instead of the originally booked category (named in MEWS: Requested category) ?This can create confusion for guests who may assume the upgraded room comes with an additional charge. They will not realize that it’s a complimentary upgrade offered to them.If anyone has suggestions or insights on how to address this, your help would be greatly appreciated!Thank you,Carol

dringend suchen wir die Möglichkeit, das das Sekretariat unserer Gäste die Möglichkeit hat, sowohl eine Gastadresse anzugeben als auch  eine Rechnungsanschrift, das eine brauchen wir um gesetzeskonform zu arbeiten, das andere um Geld zu verdienen. Gleiches für den Online-Check-In und -Out.  Der Gast will die Daten einpflegen, kann er aber nicht. Stattdessen müssen wir etliche Rechnungen im Nachhinein korrigieren, umschreiben, stornieren was nur unnötige Arbeit für uns und unsere Firmenkunden darstellt.

Same Voucher Code

Does anyone know if it’s possible to use the same voucher code for two different vouchers with restrictions? In my case, I am trying to set up a voucher that provides 5% off all the time. However, on weekends that there is a concert in town, a second voucher will provide 10% off instead, on very specific dates that I was able to set up with restrictions.  However, I want these vouchers to be easy to use. I was thinking that if I used the same voucher code for both, when guests type that code in on our booking engine, it would bring up the appropriate rate based on the dates selected and the restrictions I have set up.  Has anyone done this before, or have an easier way to do it if this route isn’t feasible?  Thank you!

How to get a final invoice

When trying to download an unpaid invoice as a PDF, Mews only offers only the option to issue a proforma invoice. However, some companies cannot make payments based on a proforma invoice. How can I generate an invoice that is not proforma?

I need to control my payments received per month. That is, matching payments to invoices. Groups and events management integration

Hello everyone We are looking for an integration that would help us manage our direct events and groups reservations (meaning not the “block booking” ones) and so we’re wondering if we could get any advice from you Mewsers. The idea, in a nutshell, is to be able to manage everything from encoding the reservation to the sending of the confirmation letter and/or contract Are you using one of those? Hey everyone,We’re facing an issue with the breakfast selection in the Mews Kiosk and are looking for a good solution.🍽️ Our breakfast options:Savory Sweet Kids' breakfastSince we offer plated breakfasts, it would be great if guests could select a time slot for their breakfast. Is there a way to integrate this into the Mews Kiosk? Or maybe a main breakfast category to make the selection clearer?🤔 The biggest issue: Quantity selectionRight now, guests can only choose “Breakfast for 1” or “Breakfast for 2.” This is inconvenient when guests in the same room want different breakfast types and quantities. Example:Room with 4 guests 2x savory breakfast + 2x sweet breakfastHowever, the kiosk doesn’t allow guests to specify the number of each breakfast type separately. Report of consumed minibar

Good afternoon everybody,In our hotel, we have a minibar in each room, and to track what guests have consumed, we currently ask them during check-out. However, I was wondering if there might be a report that allows me to review what guests have taken from the minibar in one place. The data for this should be entered into MEWS OPS by our housekeeping team (though it might not be correct, as currently, housekeepers are entering this information in the note box at the bottom of their screen when changing the status from dirty to clean). Whats the idea with the Online-Checkout?

So mews sends an e-mail to the guests for the online checkout. The problem we have with that, is that the checkout is not available when there are active charges for multiple persons in an reservation … in these cases an error message is shown which asks guests to solve this at the reception.Only when all active charges are on the responsible person the online-checkout is available (i think). This is rarely the case, because Mews POS and other services we use, create charges on person level. When guests have spa treatments or order something in our shop, restaurant or bar it is very likely that charges are created in a way that make the online-checkin unavailable.What happens then for us, is that the guests flood our reception because of the message on the online-checkout.Does anyone have issues with this too? How do you handle that?It would be great to get feedback from Mews on this topic, as it seems like a bit of a logical error to me. What is the idea here? What is the reason that

Recurring Guests / Guest Loyalty Indicators

I already asked a question about the returning classification in Mews and it gets added automatically with the second checkin of the guest (which makes total sense). Problem is that this information is not really useful because you see that effectively only with the third reservation (because when the guest checks in with the second reservation the classification is not added so it looks the first stay).I get that the current handling is the most practical from an technical standpoint and logically makes sense but operations wise this is not really valuable. With beforehand preparations or even on checkin at the front desk the classification is not visible on the second stay (because it doesn’t get added until checkin).Better would be instead a first-time classification that every profile has by default that gets removed on checkin (technically the system checks on every checkin if that classification is set and removes it).I know that there are some guest loyalty indicators planned th

MEWS Terminal pending invoice settlement issue "elaborating"

Hi to everyone!We just started using MEWS TERMINAL last week, and we’ve been experiencing an odd issue while settling pending invoices.When the payment fails, after being launched from the payment settling menu in the control panel, the transaction in mews says “elaborating”, and prevents us to do anything else with the unsettled invoice. the 3 dots menu goes blank and that’s it.How can we solve this issue? Apparently i haven’t found anything about it so ask for your help, fellas MEWSers! Thanks a lot in advance Cheers,Nicolò

Buchhaltungsbericht

Hallo liebe Community,ich bin auf der Suche nach einem Buchhaltungsbericht, der mir für ein bestimmtes Produkt den Namen und das Datum sortiert nach Datum anzeigt. Momentan kann ich nur entweder nach Name sortieren, dann fehlt das Datum, oder nach Datum sortieren, dann fehlt aber der Name des dazugehörigen Gastes.Es geht darum, die monatliche Abrechnung der Kurverwaltung für die Kurtaxe mit unseren tatsächlichen Buchungen der Kurtaxe abzugleichen. Die Rechnung der Kurverwaltung ist nach Anreisedatum sortiert und eben mit dem Namen versehen, genau so einen Bericht suche ich in Mews.Ich hoffe, dass mir jemand weiterhelfen kann, denn es ist wirklich mühsam und zeitaufwendig, jeden Gast manuell in Mews zu suchen, die Rechnung zu öffnen und dann zu vergleichen, ob alles passt.Ich bin Dankbar für jeden Vorschlag.

Adding persons in the reservation tool

Good morning, y'all!I have a little problem that I'm not sure how to solve. When people are making a reservation online and they want to stay in a room set up for 2 people, but with 3 persons (by adding an extra bed), I want the booking engine to automatically add the extra bed for every night of the booking. After that, I would also like this to be turned into a task for housekeeping. Speed up checkout process for business guests

Hi everybody!I would like to pick up a few issues that have been discussed every now and then and renew the discussion as I think it might be important for many properties that have a fair share of business guests, as those issues slow down the checkout for those guests unnecessarily Newly created company profiles take very long to show up for selection in the selection/search fields to associate a new bill owner or move items to a company owned profile. Sometimes it takes a few minutes (!!) while the guest is waiting to get the invoice/bill.  online self-checkout with company bills still not possible. When the guest pays why not offer to issue the bill to a company address during online checkout? Where are the problems to implement this ? Sending bills/invoices via email: the associated profile’s email should be automatically suggest as a potential recipient in addition to the bill owner’s email. Changing products

Good afternoon everyone!New day, new question (sorry 😄). I was wondering if there is a quick way to change the options of products I have created in Mews. Roomtype status (booking.com)

Good afternoon everyone,Since our Mews launch, we have a direct connection with Booking.com to edit prices and availability. Before Mews, we worked with Cubilis as our channel manager. A few months ago, we decided to remove some of the roomtypes from the rooms offered on Booking.com.Today, I want to reverse this, but when I check the calendar view on Booking.com, I noticed that the price is missing (see screenshot underneath). How can I fix this in Mews so that the rooms can be sold again?

Mews Terminal S1 - Stripe Payment

Dear Community 👋🏼Has anyone have the same issue like I currently facing?.We have recently added Stripe as new payment provider and integrated the mews S1 terminal as the payment device, which is starting next month we will completly using stipe to replace the Adyen.Taking payment directly from the terminal with card or contactless is no issue, as well online pament when we have enterd the credit card details in mews manually.However, the credit card which captured in mews from the terminal payment, can not be re-preauthorize nor re-charge. Anyone aware what the issue here?.So far what I understood correctly, that the payment using S1 Teriminal will captured and tokanized the card details, which we can reuse it.I have wrote mews to change the Stripe as our default payment, however still no response from them over 24hrs. Do you guys think, due this default check in the integration has not been done and we have this isue?. Best regardsRingga
