For the last couple mornings my head housekeeper has noticed that all stays are automatically being changed to clean, but they should be dirty so she has to manually change them to dirty? does anyone have a fix for this ?

Hi @JeffIrwin,

please have a look at the following article: How to change the cleaning period or interval
For more information on the space status report: The Space status report

Please let me know if this was helpful or whether you need further assistance. Thank you!

Hello,

I’ve never noticed that rooms automatically change status from "dirty" to "clean."
In what situations would it be useful for this status to update automatically?

@JeffIrwin,

Thank you for raising this matter.

If you would like us to investigate on this further, please kindly submit a support ticket at your earliest convenience.

Hi @Robin Gustavsson

Thank you for sharing your question here.

Please note that in Mews, you can set a clean or inspected room to dirty after certain criteria such as after 7 days (for compliance reasons like Legionella) - Why is my Space status — Legionella? Or when a guest checks in, if the option “check-in marks the room as dirty” is enabled. However, automating space status change from dirty to clean can not be done within Mews. However, this maybe enabled using third party integrations.

One situation I could think of that the automatic changing of dirty to clean could be useful is when property have automated or scheduled cleaning services where actual cleaning events are tracked or confirmed outside the Mews platform. But there can be many use cases as well.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Kind regards,

Nicolai

Hello Nicolai,

Yes, it makes perfect sense that inspected or clean rooms can be set to dirty due to factors like legionella or triggers such as check-in/check-out.

I’ve just never experienced the opposite happening at any of our properties — rooms changing from dirty to clean automatically.

However, I did find this link: https://help.mews.com/s/article/how-to-change-the-cleaning-period?language=en_US, where Mews states that spaces can change to either dirty or clean, depending on the setup under Visit options.

Hi @Robin Gustavsson

Thank you for your question!

In the Visit Options section of your Bookable Service settings, you can enable the “Change inspected to clean overnight” option. This setting works in combination with the “Check-in marks space as dirty” option.

If “Check-in marks space as dirty” is disabled, the system does not automatically mark the space as dirty upon check-in. Instead, the status depends on the Housekeeping Interval and the “Change inspected to clean overnight” setting.

For example, if your housekeeping interval is set to 1, and a guest checks into an inspected space on May 19th, and “Check-in marks space as dirty” is disabled:

  • If “Change inspected to clean overnight” is enabled, the space will automatically change to “clean” the next day.

  • If it’s disabled, the space will change to “dirty” overnight.

This is one scenario where the status automatically updates to “clean.” I hope this clarifies things, but feel free to reach out if you have any more questions!

Kind regards,

Nicolai

Hello,
I understand the above; however, I have never heard of or seen rooms go from dirty to clean automatically, which seems to be the issue JeffIrwin is referring to.

@Robin Gustavsson

Thank you for your response.

From my understanding, it could be that @JeffIrwin was expecting a change of status to dirty instead of clean. But I could be wrong 🙂

As mentioned, feel free to reach out to support for any further assistance needed.

Kind regards,

Nicolai
