Product best practice

Hello everyone, I am curious about your thoughts and solutions:To those of you who allow guest to choose their own specific room at an extra charge.How do you manage this practically and system wise. To my knowledge this is not a feature in mews (yet). How does your Revenue Manager feel about having a space “blocked” for X nights when a different room could have resultet in an additional room being sold? To those who have chosen not to: how come?what were your thoughts and processes?looking forward to hearing from all of you :)

Hello everybody This thread is not quite a new one but more of an addition to an already existing topic (see below)Indeed, on the feedback forum, I came accross an additionnal trick explained in order to have a PO number appearing on the invoice as it is possible for the reservation linked to a travel agent but for company reservation related. I’ve been using it since October 2023 and it work pretty fine You can just create a dedicated “fake” travel agency profile called for example **PO Company** (you can of course use an already existing “real one” . You will understand why further below) When you encode a company reservation you just then have to also put up the travel agency to obtain the “Travel agency confirmation number” case (see below) You then put your PO number and you are good to go NB: you can also delete afterwards the “not needed on the invoice or reservation folio”-travel agency without deleting the “Travel agency confirmation number” case => Hence no confusion NB 2

We have 4 Massage Rooms in our Spa. We are thinking of adding them as a bookable/ hourly service in mews. Is anyone doing that already and can help with experiences? The main Problems we see yet are thatwe can only book full hours in the reservaition interface we have added 1 rate for each masseur, but we cannot restrict the rates with availabilities, so 1 masseur could get booked multiple times

Hi there!Currently when a rate is setup as based upon another rate (base rate) it is only possible to setup one fixed adjustment. However, since we offer rates with and without breakfast, occupancy based adjustments need to be different between rates with and without breakfast (for example).Wouldn’t a setup option be nice that allows to not derive all room / occupancy prices from the base rate,  but only derive the base rate by a certain adjustment and setup the occupancy adjustments and room type adjustments.So like:Base rate: xyz-Rate (← the one the new rate is derived from)Options:A: derive only base rate (room type and occupancy adjustments can be set in the derived rate, just as in a normal rate, only base rate itself cannot be set manually) B: derive base rate and room rates (only occupancy based adjustment can be set in the derived rate, base rate and relations of rates for room types is derived from base rate) C: derive all rates (the currently only available option - only fixe

When creating packages most properties add the product price on top of the night price 🛌🍴 What happens if your product is already included in your night price (the one you set up in the rate) but you still need to show the ventilation on your accounting report? 📊 It is actually quite easy to set up!The idea is to create twice the same product and add them both to the product rule. One product will have the actual price of the ventilation and be linked to the correct accounting category and the other product will have the price in negative and be linked to the accommodation category. Of course when creating the product the option “bill as package” should be ticked in both the product and the general bookable service settings. 🔧Since the negative product will only be used for the package I recommend disabling both the options “offer to customer” and “offer to employees”. 🚫Once both products are created we need to create the product rule :Like that, on the accounting report it will b

Good morning everyone, We have just been hit with a 3000 USD chargeback claim. It turns out a stolen credit card was used.A guest entered a false name for the reservation that matched the stolen credit card. They used the self check-in at the MEWS Kiosk, but they entered an incorrect passport number. (on purpose obviously) Unfortunately, the Kiosk does not validate passport information, so it depends on people being honest. I think it would help us enormously if we would be able to scan and save the passport copy from the MEWS Kiosk during the self check in. I understand there might be some hardware purchases (like a passport scanner) we’d need to do, but I’m just looking for a solution to this problem.Please note that whatever solution we need will need to be done in the self check in, as we are a hotel without a reception desk, just self check in stations.  How do other hotels avoid credit card fraud during self check in?

Hello everybody!I am currently in the process of setting up our system as a new customer.Is there a way to add a html snippet anywhere that is used as a footer in all outgoing emails to customers / guests? Since legally we are required to include certain company information on any official communication, that would by great. Because as of now it looks like I had to manually add and maintain this info in all email templates in all languages. A very tedious and inefficient work…Any ideas? Full API access should be the standard, no matter which tier your are on. It's useful for inidividual solutions if IT knowledge and capabilities are available in-house. Sometimes you just need a small tool to extract some data because MEWS doesn’t have the report built in, or whatever … what are your thoughts about it.Open and free API access is one of the major selling points for MEWS, so it should stick to it’s open approach and grant access to any property that likes to, not only third-party developers.Regards,JP.

Hello everyone Having some issues (mainly time related) while doing the housekeeping planning I shared an idea with @MarketaOupi while giving her my feedback about our recent migration from Amadeus Idmps to Mews I would like for you all to give your insight about it if you have the time so here it is paste from the conversation itself : The main concern for now is towards the housekeeping service and planning organizationI've seen already a lot of suggestions on the Mews Idea Forum and I think they really should be considered by the developping teamIndeed, even if Mews is a fantastic tool, it is still build as if the proprety using it held a different department for each task requested day by day. What I mean is for a smaller structure like the one I'm working at, every operation or almost are processed by the reception/frontdesk staff. We cannot afford to lose time and that is not the cas when we are trying to assign the rooms to our housekeepers.I think there should be an extra page

Hello everybodyWhile setting up Mews and especially the breakfast products we put them as consumed “before night” and not “after night” as we should have. It escaped the vigilance of our account manager and ours...😩 The result is that now while printing our F&B breakfast list (using the products report) there is 1 day gap. Indeed the number of the breakfasts products for let’s say the 15th of November is actually the one of the 14th of November and so on (see below): We have tried to correct it of course by setting the concerned products to “after night”, but it does not seem to be updating everyhting that as already been registered in Mews. And there are already thousands of reservations and products registered... Do you know if there is way to do an automatic refresh/update, passing the products from consumed “before night” to “after night”, or are we screwed and must stuck with it as it is? 😅 Thanks for your help Regards S.
