Payment Report -> Filtering by Department

Daily PMS Auditing

Hello Mewsers,I am curious to know if you have a daily Mews auditing process. If so, could you share what reports you review and what actions you take based on the data?In the past, we have monitored the below using night audit reports generated by the PMS.Nightly rates Guest owing Cancellations Refunds Cash sales, Staff performance Agent rates / Debtor transfersHowever with Mews we currently do not have a consistent auditing process.I would appreciate learning about the approaches, helpful reports, and methods (manual or scheduled reports) that others are using.

Keeping up with Mews Updates

Hey folks, I was wondering how do you handle Mews updates in your organization?We have been experiencing quite some pressure to update training materials and reacting to Mews releases when certain features become available.We often have to:Evaluate the update - is it a technical advantage / does it require updating 3rd party integrated systems / does it break anything / do we need to change a SOP. Find a way to communicate this with the wider teams - adequate communication frequency v/s spam.What are your best practices controlling the flow of information?How do these align with the notifications available on Mews PMS itself?What system do you use to communicate effectively (email, workplace, newsletters)? Thanks!

Communication of Incidents not only via E-Mail but as well via Community?

Hello together,how do you feel about having a group at the community “MEWS INCIDENT” which you can sign for.If signed members getting Mews incidents and updates (same than subscribing at https://status.mews.com/ ).Additionally users so having the possibility asking questions regarding this incidents and sharing ideas how to handle until incident is resolved.As well I would like to see more topics here than currently posted via E-Mail. p.a. there is a bug at the moment where users can do changes of property settings without the right “manage property settings”.This would be something I´d love to see here and get information as this effects potentially every property world wide. What do you think? BestMariusz

How is an optional reservation confirmed without credit card?

Am I crazy to think the current SOP for optional reservations in MEWS does not make sense? Currently:FD: Manually create Optional Reservation MEWS: Optional Reservation Email sent GUEST: clicks on email and then “Confirms” MEWS: Reservation Confirmed MEWS: “Reservation Confirmation” automatically sent to guest which contains link to “Online check-in” FD: Requests Guest to check-in online (even though stay date could be months in advance) so that credit card details are taken GUEST: Checks in Online (hopefully!) and enters CC info FD: We can charge the reservationThat Step 6 winds up being very confusing and frustrating for guests. As they don’t understand why their reservation is not confirmed after they get a confirmation email. Isn’t it the card information that confirms the reservation?  Isn’t a reservation without payment information is fundamentally not confirmed? Am I wrong on this?Thanks!Ethan

Christmas has come early - Mews raises $185M in series CNews

This is a day in the Mews history books and you might have already seen the announcement but just in case you missed it:Mews closes $185 Million in fundraising to transform the hospitality industry for brands and their guests. 🥂🎉 The Series C fundraising brings the total amount raised to date to over $225 million. Latest funding led by Kinnevik and Goldman Sachs Asset Management; Akhil Chainwala from Kinnevik and Kirk Lepke from Goldman Sachs to join the board. Funding will be used to accelerate product innovation, global expansion and consolidation through its Mews Ventures arm. Idle sign out

Hey!Anyone else that has experienced that (especially) front desk staff are not signing in on their own accounts, and rather just use the account already logged on?I feel like an automatic sign-out after being inactive for 10-15 minutes might help (if autofill-in can be disabled). This would also be beneficial for security reasons.How have you approached this?

How do you sell products without adding to a Guests Profile without utilising a POS.?

We have a customer profile setup called ‘House Account’ this is shared across the enterprise & when a member of the public walks by & wants to purchase a product, we use the house account to process the sale.  The House Account is now very slow to load, due to a large amount of closed bills & payments.  We were suggested to create new house accounts each month, but unwilling to do that as the database will get messy very quickly.  If the guest is staying in house with us, we are encouraging staff to look up the guest to add the sale however some sites are very busy & if the guest purchases washing powder, bottle of water etc.. it is quicker for the staff to add to the generic house account rather than getting the guest details to add to their account. Really keen to hear if you have experienced this challenge & what you’ve done to overcome it.

Mews Support: What we achieved in 2022 and what's in store for 2023News

As I approach my first Mews anniversary in mid-January, I thought it was the perfect time to kickstart a quarterly Support update to everyone in our community. Support touches everyone here in one way or another so it important I keep you updated as to our progress and plans. I would also love to get your viewpoints and feedback. It is important that we are listening and being guided by your collective voice.   A year in Support flies by and upon reflection this has been a year where we have significantly invested in improving our support experience. I am hoping that if you are in regular contact with Support you will have noticed that increasingly you are hearing from different voices on the team. Since January 2022 we have more than doubled the size of the team. This growth has happened across all regions with us bolstering the European, US and APAC teams. We also expanded the team welcoming the Mews POS Support Team which we have also grown by over a third in the last 6 months. Hiri

Autofill for Mews booking engine

I realised that the Mews booking engine does not use labels for the form (first name, last name, email address, ...). Autofill won't work properly.Most browsers support autofill and I think Mews should make use of that. It will bring more convenience for guests.I posted this as an idea in the Mews feedback forum. Hey Community.We’re fast approaching the end of the year and for most this will mean more bookings, skeleton staff and time off! Here at Community HQ, we’ll also be taking some time off. How to manage staff shortages in Hotels

We are currently struggling in many countries with the fact that it is becoming increasingly difficult to find suitable personnel. We have been dealing with this issue for some time now, which is why we also rely on MEWS. Our focus is on the following points:- Modern tools make the workplace more attractive. This gives us a competitive advantage also for younger generations.- Thanks to interfaces and a high user experience, we can reduce our routine work such as entering reservations, creating accounting reports, marketing, etc. by up to 60%.- We increasingly deploy staff in different departments at the same time and follow a holocratic approach.What is your experience with the staff shortage? And what measures are you taking in hoteltech to counteract it? Do you have best practices around MEWS?

Google Ads integration

I was recently contacted directly by Google to pilot with them for a new ads product. This is apparently more than sending the rates, availabilities... from MEWS to Google - something a lot of hotels running MEWS might already have. The bottom line is spending money based a on cost per click / commission model to rank higher as the OTAs and generate more revenue (which is Google’s promise, at least main assumption). I’m wondering how I can measure direct bookings related from a Google campaign? We run the integrated MEWS booking engine. Without being able to report on the success of a campaign I’m not willing to spend any incremental budget on that. Is anybody familiar with this topic and can help me regarding the backend integration? Thanks
