🔎Tips for transitioning to a self-service front office

Hey everyone!I'm looking for tips and tricks on transitioning from an old-school front office to a fully self-service front office with a front office host. Anyone with experience making this shift? What were the biggest challenges and how did you overcome them? Any advice or ideas are welcome!What we have already prepared:training for employees: the new service flow, basics of the new role and responsibilities of a front office host, tasks, etc.  2 pilot-hotels: 1 with Mews Kiosk and 1 with Duve  overview of needed renovations, hardware and software Some questions I have: which solution(s) (Kiosk and/or Guest Journey) do you use and why?  How did you help guests embrace this change? Did you use specific communication strategies?  How did the new role of the front office evolve compared to the traditional front office?  How did you deal with staff resistance and did you find effective ways to keep them engaged?  If you had to do the transition all over again, what would you do differen

ID Scanners for Mews Kiosk

Can anyone recommend (physical) ID scanners that work well with the Mews kiosk? I have experience with AdriaScan and 365id (both have their up- and downsides), but not in combination with kiosk check-in. I am aware that Mews offers ID scan via the camera, but in my tests, it didn’t work very well.

Adding Loyalty Information to the product checklist

hello together, we would love to welcome our loyalty member in a special way to our breakfast.As we are using the product list to check who has breakfast included, we would love to be able to add the colum “loyalty program” and/or “guest notes” to the checklist. I believe that this is an awesome step into the loyalty topic which MEWS is focussing more now as per the MEWS roadmap (2weeks ago).As well other PMS system do not have this feature I believe.Do others want/need this as well?

Automatic charging of virtual credit cards for prepaid reservations

Hello!We can charge virtual cards from Expedia for prepaid/nonrefundable reservations starting immediately after the booking has been created.we have set up payment policy for automatic charging accordingly. Until approx. 20.8.2024 that worked perfectly well, the virtual cards have been charged automatically. We did not change anything since than and now payments are automatically scheduled for the day of checkin instead of right away. According to mews help that is the case when the channel manager (in our case D-Edge) does not send CC activation date information. D-Edge says they never did… do I guess Mews changed the behavior sometime in August 2024. ​@Mews Community Team  can you verify that?what can we do to resume automatic charging of VCC at the time of reservation creation?is anyone else observing this change? How do you cope? It would be a pity if we had to manually charge those cards again..best regards,jp.

Booking.com overbookings

Hi everyone,I would like to ask you about Mews PMS integrations with Booking.com. Specifically, I would like to know which integration is being used by other users - the Mews-Booking.com direct integration or the SiteMinder-Booking.com integration.Additionally, I am interested in understanding if you have experienced any overbookings and if so, the frequency of these overbookings. As background information, we migrated to the booking.com-Mews integration and do like the connection however we regularly receive overbookings via booking.com, there is a thought that with the Siteminder -Booking these overbookings could be minimised due to Siteminder holding the availability. As i understand the Mews-Booking.com integration has a minimum pull and push period of 30 seconds for rates, inventory & reservations, while the SiteMinder integration has a minimum pull period of 2 for reservations and a minimum push period of 30 seconds of rates & inventory. Mews support plattform

Hey guys,Is Mews actually working on a platform for Mews support?We also use Mews Premium Support, and while I really like the support itself, the way tickets are handled is quite tough for me. There are so many emails that it’s really hard to go back to a support ticket and keep track of which ones are still open or have been closed.I think a platform for all tickets would really help to keep better track of things. Also, from Mews’ side, I’m pretty sure it would help with inquiries, as I’ve already had to ask the same question twice because of this issue.Maybe it even exists, and I’m just not aware of it.What are your experiences?

Service set up by night or by the hour

Hi Community,Has anyone figured a way to hide the service charge box when adding an additional service product?We have the setting that ‘order requires a product’ however we are continuously needing to remind the team to ignore this first box and only use products. In our properties we never want to use this service charge box and hoping someone out here has found a way to hide this. Thanks!

Adding products in Guest Portal

I am curious about why it is not possible for guests to purchase upsells after they have checked in? I know they can do it as part of the checkin process in guest portal, but why can’t they do it after?For example, a guest forgot to add parking, then they later open guest portal again, they can read about the reservation that they already know about, but they cannot do anything with it, changes, adding products etc.So the result is that they need to contact the hotel via a message.I just wonder why this is? Is it designed that way on purpose?

Routing Rules

Is it just me or does it take ages whenever you create a new company profile and want to add a routing rule until the company profile is found? Dear MEWS Community, We are new using MEWS, and we would like to give you our thoughts on the subject of reports. We have already discussed this issue with our contact person at MEWS, and apparently the reports we want to / can pull are a bit limited. So I am happy to share our feedback here and open an conversation, in order to see if someone of you have had the same “issue”.  We would need the following data (based on reports) to work in the following topics: - Revenue Conversion --> General and individually (per person)- Lead Conversion --> General and individually (per person)- Lead per hour --> General and individually (per person)- Group Booking Pace --> Group Forecast- No TDN (Turndown) analysis possible --> We can only create the Cancellation Report. At this stage, this is not possible to get this extraction from MEWS. Therefore we need the following data to be able to draw these reports: - Revenue daily per Group with RMN (Room Nights)- Creation Date of the bloc

Zenchef integration - Credit card guarantee

One of my client properties that uses Mews, also utilises Zenchef as the booking software for their F&B services.The client would like to know if the Mews / Zenchef integration also allows for payment / credit card guarantees of reservations, using the Stipe account associated with the Mews subscription. From what I can read in the integration documentation, this is not the case, but if a community member has a solution, I would be extremely grateful for advice.

Mews recommends scheduling emergency reports | PDF would be useful

Hi everyone,the shutdone of mews for nearly 5 hours on 17th November was a big struggle for me and my team. Mews recommends to schedule daily reports to be prepared for a shutdown. In my opinion it is helpful to have this, but we need it in PDF format. I already asked for it 3 years ago when we started with mews, but till now it is not possible. The excel reports are very confusing. Confirmation mode ("do not send" and "send") for booking confirmation and quotation

Hello everyone,we've noticed that when creating a reservation, on the “Details” page, the confirmation mode defaults to “Do not send”. By changing the reservation status (to Requested or Optional) or even back to Confirmed, the confirmation mode automatically changes from “Do not send” to “Send”. This can be a source of error if the person making the reservation doesn't notice it. I think it would be preferable for the confirmation mode to default to “Do not send”, and for the person making the reservation to change it manually if necessary. what do you think?

Confirmation e-mail or quote sent to customer when agency booking

Hello everyone,we have encountered a small problem with customers who received booking confirmations and quotes (with rates) when they were travel agency bookings. customers were able to confirm and cancel these bookings directly from Mews Guest Portal. While it is clearly stated in the configuration of e-mail sending parameters, in the first remark: “Mews does not send e-mails to the recipient's address if it is not that of the company or travel agency associated with the booking.”but it seems that this rule is not applied. can you explain?

Mews Booking Engine- Multi Property

Hello MEWS Community, We are working on customizing the multi-property MEWS booking engine for our websites, which are linked to two PMS systems. We manage two adjacent MEWS properties (though technically with different addresses) and would like to adjust the following elements:                1.            Remove the Address: Is it possible to hide the address field entirely from the                                booking engine?                2.            Change Property Names in Booking Engine Only:                •             Wilmina Hotel → renamed to Hotel                •             Carlotta Apartments → renamed to ApartmentsWe’d like these name changes to apply exclusively to the booking engine without affecting other parts of the system. Alternatively, would it be feasible to overwrite specific elements of the booking engine using custom JSON code? We would greatly appreciate any guidance, tips, or suggestions from those who have tackled similar customization challenges. T

Merging company profiles

When we started with Mews we uploaded the import file with the already existing company profiles from our old PMS, and it contained a whole bunch of double data so I’m trying to merge the company profiles. Unfortunately I often have the case that one profile has the address, the other doesn’t, and when I want to merge both profiles I don’t see the address information, so I am never really sure which one to keep and which one not, but merging them does not mean the address will be updated and it happens that when I pick the wrong one, the address is just gone. Does anyone have any tips to handle this as uncomplicated as possible? :)

Zimmerliste mit bereits existierenden E-Mail-Adressen

Ich habe gerade versucht, im Gruppenreiter eine Zimmerliste mit den Teilnehmern und den E-Mail-Adressen hochzuladen. In der Liste war nun ein Teilnehmer, der bereits einmal zu Gast war und für den bereits ein Konto existiert - das wusste aber vorab niemand, so dass wir den bereits existierenden Gast nicht vor herunterladen der Blanko-Liste die wir an den Bucher geschickt haben noch nicht vorher eingetragen hatten, also war er auf der Blanko-liste auch noch nicht mit seinem bereits existierenden Konto.  Jetzt habe ich von Mews die Fehlermeldung erhalten, dass bereits ein Konto mit der E-Mail-Adresse existiert und musste bei 30 Teilnehmern erst einmal heraussuchen, wer denn bereits im System vorhanden ist.  Hat jemand einen praktikablen Trick, wie man so etwas umgeht? Ich weiß, wäre der Gast bereits eingetragen gewesen, hätte Mews bei der Liste auch diekt die Kundenkennung eingetragen, aber wenn wir den Firmen die Liste blanko schicken und sie vorab noch nicht mitgeteilt hatten, welcher
