Product best practice

Hi Community, We have recently switched to hardcoded city tax, exclusive from rates and have now found out that only city tax products will display on the Mews booking engine, not the hard coded city tax. A huge issue as we need to display the total price to guests before booking, not disclosing this price is extremely misleading. Has anyone found a workaround? We do not want to work with products and do not want to include City Tax in the rate. Thanks, Sam

Hello dear community,We are planning to set up a self-check-in station in our hotel. We are now looking for a card dispenser that is not only functional but also visually appealing. We can't really find anything reasonable on the Internet that doesn't look too cheap. Do any of you also have a self-check-in station with a card dispenser and can you recommend one?I would be grateful for any tips.

Hallo zusammen,Trotz Richtlinie bis 1 Tag vor Anreise konnte eine kostenfreie Stornierung ein Gast seine Buchung noch am gleichen Tag bis 09:00 Uhr aufheben. Anschließend bin ich hier flüchtig am Einstellen, inklusive Testbuchung, sodass wir sehen, was MEWS dem Gast ausspuckt. Leider immer etwas anderes. Unsere Richtlinie wäre bis 1 Tag, aber 18:00 Uhr kostenfreie Stornierung möglich. Was hinterlegt Ihr, nur 1 Tag, Stunden? Komm hier immer auf ein anderes Ergebnis, leider nie richtig.Liebe Grüße Kerstin

Great that the number of stays is now shown in the returning guest icon on timeline, but it would be REALLY great (and more logical) if the number of stays was included everywhere the returning icon is displayed, like on the guest profile, reservation summary, manage reservation screen.  

Hi all, Is there a way to configure the tourist tax for the islands of the Netherlands correctly, where the first day is paid on the ferry, and the guest needs to pay the hotel as of the second day per night/per person, with an automatic rule, so the hotel doesn’t need to credit the first day all the time ?Guy

Hi,We’ve noted that the Before Start email has disappeared from the MEWS emails?  We can’t see anything in MEWS updates about this and its still showing as an email in the Knowledge Base, so just to ask is this an update?  Many thanks

Hi guys, how do you deal with requests for one big group doing individual reservation, paying separately.So far I’ve only had big groups doing one reservation for everyone and then we check them in individually. This request has left me puzzled. Is there an integration from Marketplace that does it, or is it much simpler than I think?Margo

Can anyone recommend (physical) ID scanners that work well with the Mews kiosk? I have experience with AdriaScan and 365id (both have their up- and downsides), but not in combination with kiosk check-in. I am aware that Mews offers ID scan via the camera, but in my tests, it didn’t work very well. 

Hey guys,Is Mews actually working on a platform for Mews support?We also use Mews Premium Support, and while I really like the support itself, the way tickets are handled is quite tough for me. There are so many emails that it’s really hard to go back to a support ticket and keep track of which ones are still open or have been closed.I think a platform for all tickets would really help to keep better track of things. Also, from Mews’ side, I’m pretty sure it would help with inquiries, as I’ve already had to ask the same question twice because of this issue.Maybe it even exists, and I’m just not aware of it.What are your experiences?

hello together, we would love to welcome our loyalty member in a special way to our breakfast.As we are using the product list to check who has breakfast included, we would love to be able to add the colum “loyalty program” and/or “guest notes” to the checklist. I believe that this is an awesome step into the loyalty topic which MEWS is focussing more now as per the MEWS roadmap (2weeks ago).As well other PMS system do not have this feature I believe.Do others want/need this as well?

Hi everyone,I would like to ask you about Mews PMS integrations with Booking.com. Specifically, I would like to know which integration is being used by other users - the Mews-Booking.com direct integration or the SiteMinder-Booking.com integration.Additionally, I am interested in understanding if you have experienced any overbookings and if so, the frequency of these overbookings. As background information, we migrated to the booking.com-Mews integration and do like the connection however we regularly receive overbookings via booking.com, there is a thought that with the Siteminder -Booking these overbookings could be minimised due to Siteminder holding the availability. As i understand the Mews-Booking.com integration has a minimum pull and push period of 30 seconds for rates, inventory & reservations, while the SiteMinder integration has a minimum pull period of 2 for reservations and a minimum push period of 30 seconds of rates & inventory. Hi Community,Has anyone figured a way to hide the service charge box when adding an additional service product?We have the setting that ‘order requires a product’ however we are continuously needing to remind the team to ignore this first box and only use products. In our properties we never want to use this service charge box and hoping someone out here has found a way to hide this. Thanks!

I am curious about why it is not possible for guests to purchase upsells after they have checked in? I know they can do it as part of the checkin process in guest portal, but why can’t they do it after?For example, a guest forgot to add parking, then they later open guest portal again, they can read about the reservation that they already know about, but they cannot do anything with it, changes, adding products etc.So the result is that they need to contact the hotel via a message.I just wonder why this is? Is it designed that way on purpose?
