πŸ’‘ Before You Connect

Before you can set up the Salto integration, you must have the Salto application, either Salto ProAccess Space Configurator or Hotel Access Management Software licensed and installed on a computer at your property. Once your Salto account is ready, follow this guide to set up your Mews account the right way to ensure smooth integration with your key lock software.

βœ” Accurate key cutting

βœ” No common setup errors

βœ” Faster go-live

Β

1. Property Level (Spaces, DeviceHub)

  • Spaces: verify if the name of your spaces in Mews and Salto is the same or different; make sure to follow Key cutter mapping if necessary (*useful links > 2).
  • DeviceHub: once installation is finished, you can view and maintain your Mews Connector integration setup from the DeviceHubs screen in Mews.

2. Service Level (Services)

  • No special requirements unless Mews Kiosk will be used with key cutter connected. In this case 1) complete integration installation first and then 2) add Salto key cutter to your Mews Kiosk configuration in Mews.

3. Integration Level (Technical connection)

  • Marketplace integration – add the Key Cutter integration and Mews Connector integration to your Marketplace. Note: Mews Connector and the Salto application are to be installed on the same computer at your property.
    1. Mews Connector – download and install on dedicated device/server. Note: Mews does not support installations on Virtual Machines.
    2. Key Cutter – add your licensed Salto software (e.g., HAMS / ProAccess SPACE). Note: You may rename your integration name from Key Cutter to Salto:
  • Set up your Key Cutter (Salto) integration:
    1. Set up your key cutter(s)
    2. Map your key cutters (if applicable)
    3. Add the created Key Cutter to Connected devices in Mews Connector integration
  • Device credentials – API token from Mews + Salto IP address & port
  • Device naming – Use alphanumeric names only (avoid %, &, #, etc.)

4. Network & Access (Connectivity requirements)

  • Stable internet connection for Mews Connector device that runs 24h/7d
  • Required Salto IP & ports open on firewall (e.g., TCP port [insert])
  • Integration user in Mews with API access role (Admin)
  • Salto server reachable from Mews Connector device

5. Quick Test Before Go-Live

  1. Create a test reservation in Mews
  2. Assign a room key via Salto and send the command to cut the key
  3. Verify if the key opens the correct door(s)
  4. Check Mews (Queues, Device commands) & Salto logs for success messages

πŸ’‘Tip: Most accounting connection issues come from:

  • Wrong IP/Port in Mews Connector and/or Key Cutter integration set up β€’ Unsupported IT environments (Virtual Machine, outdated OS)
  • Device names (e.g. key cutter) with special characters
  • Room names are different in Mews and Salto but are not mapped
  • Expired Salto licenses
