Hi Community! We hope you find this minimum setup checklist for Booking.com helpful 💡
💡 Before You Connect
Before you can set up the Booking.com integration, you must have the Booking.com account created for your property with all the rooms and rate structure populated. Once your Booking.com account is ready, follow this guide to set up your Mews account the right way to ensure smooth integration with your sales channel.
✔ Accurate inventory, pricing and restrictions update and successful reservation reception
✔ No common setup errors
✔ Faster go-live
1. Property Level (Spaces, property details, company and travel agency)
- Spaces: ensure all spaces (rooms) are created and added to their corresponding room categories.
- Property details: ensure all customer facing property details such as name, email, telephone, website and address are updated since those will be visible in Guest portal and emails (if used).
- Company profile and Travel Agency contract – create both profiles for Booking.com in Mews; this step is crucial to ensure proper assignment of reservations.
2. Service Level (Services, Rates Products)
- Bookable Services & Products: add all bookable services (accommodation, apartments, etc.) and link relevant products (breakfast, parking, etc.).
- Products must match what is configured inside Booking.com’s extranet for proper pricing display and tax calculation.
- Rate Setup: assign rates to room categories. Ensure cancellation policies, payment options, and occupancy-based pricing are mirrored in both platforms..
- Product Mapping & Packaging: products can be marked as ‘Included’ or ‘Excluded’ for each Booking.com rate. Adjust settings in Mews to match Booking.com’s VAT/tax/charges configuration.
- Optional Products & Value Adds: only products supported by Booking.com can be mapped. These must be requested via Booking.com support.
3. Integration Level (Technical connection)
- Marketplace Connection:
- Add the Booking.com integration in the Mews Marketplace. You will need your booking.com Property ID for that. Note: Obtain your unique Booking.com Property ID from the Booking.com extranet and enter it in the Mews integration.
- Select Mews PMS as your connectivity provider in Booking.com extranet. Note: it requires accepting/confirming a connectivity request on Mews side).
- Mapping Logic: use “Pull mapping” from Booking.com to retrieve correct mapping codes for room categories and rates. Confirm mapping for new properties or after any migration.
- Age Categories: if using age-specific rates (children, adults), ensure age category mapping is set up, and confirm with Booking.com extranet settings. The option "Use age category in inventory" must remain disabled to avoid pricing errors.
- Test and enable Integration and Operations: If you are setting up Booking.com for the first time, trigger “Download all future reservations” to import all bookings. Only enable the integration after all steps are tested.
- Multiple Accounts/Properties: You can connect multiple Booking.com properties to a single Mews account by creating separate integrations for each.
4. Network & Access (Connectivity requirements)
The integration is API-based and requires no physical servers or on-premises. No network/firewall configuration is required. Only an active internet connection for the Mews Operations platform is necessary.
5. Quick Test Before Go-Live
- Before going live, perform the following checks:
a. Confirm mapping by doing a test pull.
b. Make a test booking to verify reservation, rate, and product sync.
c. Review channel manager queue for any undelivered or timed-out reservations.
- All rate, availability, and restrictions updates must be managed from Mews, not Booking.com extranet, after activation.
Tip: Most accounting connection issues come from:
Setup mistakes often include incorrect mapping codes, failing to assign products, missing property IDs, or not confirming connectivity, which can block reservations or create rate/availability mismatches.
