Hey, Mews Community!

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of Creating Reservations from the Timeline, a feature that’s been highly requested and much anticipated by the Mews community. 🚀 From now on, streamlining your booking workflows has never been easier, faster, or more intuitive.

Why this matters to you

We know the importance of staff efficiency at the front of house, and we’re excited this new feature eliminates unnecessary steps and puts everything you need directly at your fingertips. Whether you’re checking availability or securing a new reservation, it’s all possible – right from the Timeline.

For hotel staff, simplify your daily workflow with faster reservation creation directly from the Timeline.

For managers, reap the benefits of boosted team productivity with a tool that minimizes inefficiencies and reduce clicks. Happier teams means happier guests!

How it works

With this feature, you can now:

  • Create reservations directly from the Timeline: No need to switch screens or tabs.

  • Seamlessly check availability: Easily find open slots for bookable periods like nights or hours.

  • Streamline the entire reservation process: Save time and reduce errors with an intuitive, timeline-based workflow.

What you should know

  • This feature is automatically available for all properties – you don’t need to do anything to activate it.

  • Reservations can be created directly on the Timeline for bookable periods (e.g., nights for stays, hours for meeting rooms).

  • Stay tuned: More updates will be coming to the Timeline very soon.

Ready to get started?

You can start using this feature right now. A detailed guide is available now in the Help Center

Thats a great feature.

It seems that right now even though you can choose the persons and rate it doesn’t get applied when entering the regular reservation funnel. It would be great if those settings would have an effect.

That was exactly what we where waiting for.

Is there maybe a way to show all the rates already in advance or do we always have to select them in the list?

Warm regards

Thank you for implementing this.

This will get some getting used to, since we usually click a random place on the time-line to close a reservation we consult.

Thanks for the sharing your thoughts! We purposefully decided not to add it to the “basket” because of various reasons. We know that it would be better to apply it in the later step but we wanted to start slowly with the iterations and build the next iterations on the feedback.

I marked it down and we’ll see how to approach it next :)

Hey @Pierrick, I’m not sure what exactly do you mean. Can you please elaborate? You can send me a DM and we can discuss it there :)

Hey @PHman88, so you mean that when you talk with your customers, you have the panel with reservation detail opened and clicking outside easily closed it?

@PHman88 If that’s the case, how would the functionality work best for you? And do you see any other concerns with the current version?

Hi Daniel,

As it stands right now, it’s certainly fine for us. My previous question is no longer valid because I only had one rate to choose from (fully flexible vs non-refundable). But now that I’ve made this public, it works as well.

Thanks anyway for your message.

Kind regards

I can understand the approach of iteration the system but right now there are some settings that absolutely have no effect. That seems really wrong from an UX standpoint ;)

We tried to use the feature, but not all rates can be chosen

When we start a new reservation using the usual + on top right of mews dashboard or Alt+N, we see all available rates valid for the selected period.

When using timeline we only see some possibilities, and sometimes restricted, although there is no restriction set for the specific period

What settings have to be made to system in order to see rates and be able to use this function ?

I repeat, when using Alt+N or + all works perfectly

Thank you and best regards

Roland

Is it possible that sometimes the timeline doesn't load properly after making a reservation directly on the timeline? After pressing F5, everything works again. It's very strange.

Hi Pierrick

thank you for your tip. Unfortunately it does not work.

starting today I have still 2 rates available. It only shows one rate, and it is not the cheapest

If I take a date in 2 months time, it says Restricted.

So, there has to be a setting which makes rates not visible while on timeline.

The only rate I see always, it a Fully Flexible rate and a Prepaid rate with absolutely nothing attached and valid in our studios (no breakfast, no meals, just local tourist taxes)

Good to know is that mews booking engine and using +  or Alt+N work perfectly

Shall I open a support ticket ?

Best regards

Roland
