"Route to Room"

Good morning everybody from Venice, Italy.

I would like to ask the community how they approach the following very common situation: 

When you have two or more rooms travelling together as a family, it can very well happen that one customer will settle for all of them. In a previous PMS I was able to just route any charges to e.g. the kids’ room to the parent room using ‘route to room’ and inserting the corresponding room number.

Mews does not seem to have this feature, other than changing the bill owner, which however does not solve the issue of any further charges made during the stay to be routed automatically to the main room. Any charges made to the kids’ room remains in a new bill in the kids’ room.

Is there any feature or work-around that perhaps I am overlooking?

Matt and Souhael already posted two good ways to move the bill items to the correct guest.

Another slightly different approach would be to merge all reservations to one group, add or keep the paying guest as the reservation owner and add the guests who are actually staying in the rooms as companions in the reservation.

You can add companions in the “Group” tab and make them the owner of the reservation by clicking on the symbol next to their name:

This way all items will be routed to the reservation owner while you can still see the actual guests as companions.

You can use billing automation to route all group bills to the group owners guest profile and then have one bill on their profile: How to create a billing automation in Mews Operations This is the only way to achieve this I believe without manually moving to the guest (click to select item - click Move in the Blue Banner, select ‘Other guest’)?

Dear Matt, thank you so much for you answer! This would definitely work, but it would mean creating a new billing automation every single time I need to route to room, which seems a bit unnecessary since each of them would be used basically once. Billing automations to me look like they should be used for permanent billing necessities, for example to route something automatically to the OTA bill or similar situations.

Bonjour,

Je peux vous conseiller dans ce cas de fusionner le groupe de la chambre parent avec celle des enfants (dans l’onglet Groupes → Fusionner le groupe) afin d’avoir un seul groupe et ensuite de déplacer les prestations sur la facture des parents afin d’avoir une seule facture ce qui rend plus simple que de faire une automatisation 😀
