How to set a customer preference on a room number using the room features and user preference allocation strategy?

Many of our customers prefer to always be allocated to the same room number or floor number during reservations.

After defining these characteristics in the space features, I do not see these characteristics in the user profile “Preferred space features”. I only see a fixed classification list. My allocation strategy is set to “Use user preferences”.

I can see that one could make the link from a “room feature to a classification” on the space side of the settings, and use the “classification to user” link on the user side of the settings, but it does not meet the need at all:

  • classifications are limited to 20 and none corresponds to the feature I am defining
  • if different features are classified within the same class, then why even bother defining space features ?!?!?

Am I missing something or is it so weird? What was the logic when designing this?

Many thanks in advance for your help and clarifying if I misunderstand something.

Hi @Esmeralda 😄

You are not missing anything here, what you are seeing is the current product logic.

At the moment, the guest profile field for Preferred space features uses a fixed predefined classification list rather than the custom space features you create on the space side. So even if you define your own room or floor-related features, they will not appear directly in the guest profile unless they are mapped to one of those existing classifications.

This also means that if the classification you need does not exist, there is unfortunately no clean way to support that preference through the automated allocation logic today. A specific room number is also not currently supported as a true saved guest preference for automatic assignment.

So in short: it is a product limitation rather than a setup issue on your side.

Kind regards

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

Considering this then a product limitation, when does MEWS development team plan to add the evolution in the product roadmap? When could we expect it to be implemented?

As a “customer centric software”, it is rather problematic.

Thanks again.

Regards.
