Google Ads / Google Tag Manager conversion tracking with Mews Booking Engine

Hi everyone,

I’m currently trying to improve my direct bookings and have recently started advertising my property through Google Ads.

I had a call with my Google Ads account manager, and we found an issue with conversion tracking. Google is able to track the basic conversion, but it cannot properly capture the transaction value or the reservation number/reference once the booking is completed.

From what I understand, this happens because the booking process is completed through the Mews booking engine, which is hosted outside my own website. Because of that, Google Tag Manager / Google Ads cannot access the final purchase details, such as the booking amount and reservation ID.

My Google Ads manager suggested two possible solutions:

  1. Check whether Mews has any native integration, tool, or recommended setup to send this booking data back to Google Ads / Google Tag Manager.
  2. Redirect guests after completing the booking to a thank-you page on my own website, where the booking value and reservation reference could be displayed or passed to Google, allowing proper conversion tracking.

Has anyone here faced the same situation?

I would really appreciate any advice from other hoteliers or from the Mews team on how to correctly track Google Ads conversions, including transaction value and reservation reference, when using the Mews booking engine.
