Hi Mews Community 👋
We’re looking to learn from other properties on how you handle bookable services, specifically when they unintentionally affect guest profiles and repeater reporting.
Background
At our property, we use Mews Bookable Services for two main purposes:
-
Creating room reservations across different room types (Duhh)
-
Allowing guests to reserve complimentary beach spots for the next day
The beach reservations bookable service and booking engine were set up following Mews Help guidelines, allowing guests to book either via the front desk or independently through a booking engine link in our guest app.
The Challenge We’re Seeing
When a guest books a beach chair for the next day, Mews creates a new reservation tied to the guest profile. From a system perspective, this reservation carries the same “weight” as a room stay.
This leads to a few operational and reporting issues for us:
-
Guests with one actual stay appear as repeat guests due to multiple beach chair reservations
-
Repeater and loyalty reporting becomes skewed
-
Front desk teams can no longer rely on a quick profile glance to understand true stay history
Example:
A guest stayed with us once but reserved beach chairs twice. Insights now show Total Stays: 3, even though there was only one room stay.
What We’ve Looked Into So Far
Creating "products" instead of bookable service for the beach reservations. However, products don't have inventory so we would not be able to cap the spaces we have available - Not an option.
Question for the Community
We noticed that parking is often used as an example of a bookable service in Mews University.
For properties that offer parking (or similar services):
-
Do those bookings also create separate reservations?
-
If so, how do you handle guest history, repeater identification, and reporting accuracy?
We’d love to hear how others have approached this, especially if you’ve found ways to:
-
Prevent service reservations from inflating stay counts
-
Keep guest profiles reflective of actual room stays
-
Maintain clean historical data and reliable repeater insights
Any tips, workarounds, or real-world setups would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for sharing your experience! 🙏
