When is Wero coming?

Is there any update about a connection with Wero?

The lack of alternative payment methods is a big problem for us and is keeping us from using the Mews booking engine. For hotels in Belgium there are no alternative payment methods available, only creditcards and Google pay. Not a single connection with Payconiq, Bancontact, direct bank app payments, ...

Hi DieterLodge,

Thanks for raising this. Your frustration is completely understandable. Let me address both your Wero question and the broader payment methods gap you're highlighting.

On Wero specifically: We're actively tracking iDeal's transition to Wero (expected to start late 2026). Today, we support iDeal. For now, this is a brand transition rather than a functional change. Any new Wero capabilities (wider European acceptance, BNPL, etc.) are planned for 2027. If you're interested in the details, Wero's own explainer is worth a read.

On the problem of local Belgian payment methods: You're asking for Payconiq, Bancontact, and direct bank apps. These are local payment methods. Wero isn’t.

Looking forward: We are expanding payment methods. PayPal launches soon.

Could you reply with a bit more context? Specifically:

  1. What % of your bookings currently fail due to payment method unavailability?
  2. If you had to pick one payment method to have first, which would it be?

Hi Souray,

Thank you for your reply and the explanation.

Currently we are not using Mews online payments because of the lack of alternative payment methods.

Bancontact payments are very important for the Belgian market, I would chose this one.

Hi DieterLodge,

Thanks for the response. This is exactly the insight we need. The fact that you're not using Mews online payments at all because of this gap tells us it's a real adoption blocker, not just a nice-to-have.

Bancontact is clear. That's useful data for our product team.

A couple more questions to build the business case internally:

  1. How many properties would this unlock for you? (Are we talking 1-2 properties or a broader estate?)
  2. Are you processing payments outside Mews today? If yes, how?

I'll take this feedback + your answers to our product and payments teams.

Hi Sourav,

  1. this concerns 7 properties
  2. we are not processing payment outside Mews for the moment, but are looking for solutions with other online payment providers
