Hello — we’d like to test payment automation for card pre-authorization. How does this work for hotels that are already using it? My main concern is that pre-authorizations might be attempted on virtual cards or travel-agency cards. Has anyone had success with this? Thanks! 🌼

as far as i know you can not do an automization on pre autorization… it is just for payment.except you create a payment rule an a specific rate code and link it. you can choose on the rule either payment or authorization.
so if you have specific rate codes which you do not want be used with payment rather than authorisation just need to change the set up or create a new one.

we charge all our costumers 48 h before arrival.
for travel agents you need to set up a different way, you can do this on the payment autamisatuon function and attached the travel agents and a few more functions. easy to set up and saves a lot of time for employees.

Thanks, Johannes. We charge guests in accordance with the cancellation policy — if it’s a prepaid (NRF) booking, we charge at the time of booking; if it’s 48 hours, then at that point. We have many business travelers, and they usually book with same-day cancellation flexibility — for Best Western, our cutoff is 16:00. So, we can’t charge before the cancellation deadline has passed.
We already use payment automation successfully and absolutely love it! My question was more specifically related to the automation of pre-authorizations.
