Why this matters
Chasing overdue bills costs time and hurts cash flow. Payment requests let guests pay from a secure link. With the right setup, you’ll collect faster and avoid accidental duplicates.
What’s the challenge
Teams sometimes skip a few setup steps (like Receivables or the invoice payment link), or they collect a payment request and also let an automatic rule charge the card—risking a duplicate.
Best-practice checklist
-
Confirm you’re using the Mews Payments; only then can you send payment requests or add a payment link to invoices. Refer to Send a payment request by email help article.
-
For ad‑hoc requests: from the customer profile, Payments tab > + Payment request, complete the fields, and send; the guest pays securely and you’ll see Completed/Expired status in Mews. Refer to Send a payment request by email help article.
-
For invoices: enable the payment request link in Accounting configuration so invoice emails include a Pay link; payments reconcile back to the invoice automatically when completed. -
Avoid double charges: if you use automatic settlements, close the bill with the collected payment request to prevent the rule from charging again. Refer to Send a payment request by email help article.
-
You’ll also need to enable the invoiceable option for a profile. See how to do this in this help article: How to enable or disable the invoiceable option for a profile
