Hi Mews crew,

We’re really excited to bring Multicurrency by Mews Payments to customers using Adyen as their underlying payments processor in Europe, helping properties open up a brand-new revenue stream.

For this launch, Multicurrency is available for online payments only. Multicurrency on Adyen terminals will follow at a later date.
If you’re eligible, we’ll be in touch by email soon with more details and instructions on how to opt in.
And the best part? It’s included in your Mews Payments contract at no additional cost.

Let’s take a closer look.

What is Multicurrency?

International travel should feel effortless, but paying in another currency often does not. Guests may see one price when they book, then discover additional fees or unclear exchange rates later from their bank. And that causes easily avoidable stress.

Multicurrency helps solve that.

With Multicurrency, international guests making online payments can choose to pay in their home currency, with fees displayed transparently before they complete the transaction.

For properties, it creates an additional revenue stream as they keep a portion of the conversion fees that would typically go to banks.

So, your property can offer a clearer, more guest-friendly payment experience while also boosting revenue.

Why it matters for hotels using Adyen as their underlying payments processor

Europe welcomes millions of international travelers every year, and many of them want the reassurance of paying in a currency they know and understand.

By offering that choice online, properties can reduce payment confusion, improve the booking and payment experience, and create a new source of revenue from cross-border transactions.

And the opportunity is significant.

Based on our 2025 analysis of more than 2,300 properties in Europe live with Multicurrency for at least 90 days:

  • 51% of properties covered between 5% and 17% of their Mews subscription costs through Multicurrency revenue.
  • 7% of properties covered 30% or more of their Mews subscription costs.
  • 1% of properties covered their full Mews subscription costs — and more.

In other words, Multicurrency does more than improve the guest experience. It can also help offset the cost of Mews.

“I’d recommend Multicurrency to other hotels because it’s easy to use, improves guest experience, and generates extra revenue.”
— Rosalie Jansen, Front Office Manager, Hotel Arena

“It was a no-brainer to activate Multicurrency – staff didn’t even need training because the process is so automated.”
— Linus Bihn, Head of Digital Processes & Customer Journey, Hey Lou Hotel

How it works

Step 1: An international guest makes an online payment to your property.

Step 2: The guest is offered the choice to pay in their home currency, with the conversion fee displayed transparently.

Step 3: If they choose to pay in their home currency, your property retains a portion of the conversion fee.
