How can we integrate Crypto processor?

I want to start accepting cryptocurrency payments (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDC) at my motel and RV park. I’d like guidance on how to implement this within Mews PMS. Specifically, I’m looking for:

  1. Which crypto payment platforms (e.g., BitPay, Coinbase Commerce, CoinsPaid) are compatible with Mews.

  2. How to integrate these platforms with Mews for online bookings, front‑desk payments, and invoicing.

  3. The technical setup needed, including APIs, payment links, or POS options.

  4. Recommendations for managing settlements, accounting, and compliance in the U.S.

My goal is to provide guests with a seamless crypto payment option while ensuring smooth operations and proper reporting in Mews.

Hi @BrijMistry ,

Thank you for reaching out. My name is Nic, and I'm part of the Mews Support Team. I'm happy to help you with your query today.

Currently, Mews does not offer a direct integration for accepting cryptocurrency payments, as Mews Payments primarily integrates with traditional gateways like Stripe and Adyen. However, we understand this is a feature of interest and have an active request in our feedback portal. You can show your support for this idea by upvoting it here.

As a workaround, you can use a third-party cryptocurrency payment gateway that suits your business needs. Once a guest completes a payment through the external crypto platform, you can manually record this transaction in Mews as an "External payment".

To do this, you will need to set up an external payment type within your accounting configuration. This process is similar to how you would configure a wire transfer or a bank transfer payment type.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to let us know. We are always happy to assist further.

Kind regards,

Nic

I'm not entirely sure, but Mews typically only accepts payments made directly at the hotel or those processed through Stripe via their account. Therefore, integrating cryptocurrency payments directly into Mews might not be supported. It would be best to contact Mews support directly for confirmation and to explore any potential workarounds they might offer.

Best regards,

You can set it up as an “EXTERNAL Payment” in accounting categories and accounting setup. I think it is somewhat similar to CASH accounting setup.
