Dear Mews Events users! 

 

We have started using Mews Events in June this year. And sometimes we struggle with functionality (which we put in the ‘Ideas’ section). But we also struggle a bit with using daily delegate packages, procesflow and the financial part of Mews Events. Are there other hotels using Mews Events?

And would you be willing to exchange tips and tricks about using Mews Events with each other?

I've been in contact with a hotel in Dortmund using Mews Events, and it was already very educational to exchange info about Mews Events.

Good afternoon, 

We are currently evaluating whether to start using Mews Events ourselves and came across your message. You mentioned challenges around functionality, daily delegate packages, process flows and the financial side.

I wanted to ask how things are looking for you now, have these topics improved over time, or have you found good workarounds or best practices in the meantime?

We would really appreciate a short update from your side and would also be happy to exchange tips and experiences once we move forward.

    We have found some workarounds to make it workable for us. The progress in Mews Events improvements is not as fast as we would like, so there is still manual work involved. I think it depends on how your financial setup is if it would work for you. If you like to know more, you're welcome to have a call; you can send me an email at [removed by moderator] .

    Things we are struggling with at the moment:

    • Guests created in Mews Events are created in Mews without checking if the guest already exists. For returning events we have multiple profiles in Mews we have to combine.
    • When adding a food item to the quote, we are obliged to select a meal time, which is shown in the quote. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner. While sometimes (like a piece of cake) it's neither. However, it is still registered as ‘piece of cake (lunch)’ on the quote.
    • The deposit in Mews Events does not register in Mews; therefore, the deposit payments are not registered in our financial system. We have the workaround of creating manual deposits in Mews and not using Mews Events for this.
    • There is only one quote template, in which you can only adjust certain things. We do weddings as well as meeting venues. We would like to have multiple quote templates we can design as needed.
    • The quote does not contain a program. For example, for a wedding, we would like to communicate to the guest at what time certain events take place. We have the workaround to put this in the comments of the quote. The downside is that we have to manually copy this to the function sheet.

    We do see that translation errors are now fixed, which is great. And we have been in contact with the product owner of Mews Events and think there are nice improvements coming the next couple of years.
