Hello Mews community! ✌

We've made some exciting progress in how we're thinking about introducing multiple rates within a single reservation, and we need your help!

We’d love to understand your expectations regarding this behavior. We're starting simple to deliver value as quickly as possible — by allowing you to extend an existing reservation in the reservation detail using a different rate. This will pave the way for offering mixed rate stays, enabling bleisure experiences and shoulder dates within a single reservation 👏

Right now, we’re especially looking for insights from two key roles:

  • Reservation managers / front desk staff who handle reservations daily
  • Revenue managers

If this sounds like you, you're the perfect person to help shape this new capability. Here’s how:

  • Follow this link to take our Userberry test and share your feedback
  • Please use a desktop browser — the survey includes visual elements
  • Set aside around 5–10 minutes of your time

Even if this doesn’t fit your role directly, we still welcome your feedback! However, it would be even more valuable if you could share this with colleagues or team members who fit the roles above. That way, we can gather the most accurate insights and build the best solution for everyone. 🤝

Let me know below if you have any questions or comments. Thank you!

Thanks for the update.
The topic is relevant from a revenue perspective, but I’m not sure Userberry is the best format for hotel teams — it may complicate things for them. Front desk and reservations staff usually need something more straightforward and operational.

I can share feedback from our side, but I won’t forward the Userberry test to the hotels for this reason.

Hi @wahiba, thanks for your comment and for providing your perspective via the Useberry survey - really appreciated!

Do you think it would be better to set a call with front desk&reservations staff from your property to go through the topics? Or were you thinking more about a clickable prototype?

Looking forward to hearing from you

Have a great day!

Hi @daniel.do,

Just off the top of my head, I think the main use case doesn’t require two different rates from the same group, but from two different rate groups as usually this is needed because of restrictions on one rate group (policy) which currently have to be made overlapping so that reservations can be made for a certain date that has two different rate groups/policies. The other use case is extension nights to packages that include a fixed amount of nights but this case also requires an extension with a different rate group.

(I know, that you can have varying policies within one rate group, but since this feature is still lacking quite a few functionalities, it doesn’t solve the problems around this just yet.)

Best, Svenja

Hi @Svenja, thanks a lot for taking the time to provide further context 🙌🏻

Just to make sure I understand correctly your point of view - you think that the usual use cases when having multi-rate reservations is by mixing 2 (or more) rates coming from 2 different rates groups. Am I correct? Our idea is to provide the necessary flexibility, so that the users could mix together, within one reservation, even rates coming from different rate groups. We are also investigating if there should be any restriction set from the property management to pre-define which rates could be mixed and which couldn’t.

If you have some time to go through the survey, it would help us capturing everyone idea on how this feature should work ideally!

Thanks a lot!

@Johannes Rott we are still planning the slices/releases of the different functionalities to deliver value a soon as possible and continuously. But the first scenario, as @daniel.do mentioned, will be to extend an existing reservation with a different rate (shoulder dates). We’ll keep you posted! 🙏🏻

@daniel.do our next go live is 1.12.25 and the feature would already help a lot to extend reservation :-D but i guess thats a bit to soon

Done!

@daniel.do - I am handling reservations in my property and for me such feature will spare me a lot of time.

Right now if we hav a reservation from Booking.com and the guest want to extend, we need to make a new reservation. If this feature will be availble, I will be able to extend the reservation and change the rate code form the one used for Booking to the one of the hotel rate code. This applies to any reservation made on any OTA.

@Johannes Rott I’d love us to have it developed this soon but that’s unfortunately unrealistic 😁 We’re now investigating how to lay down the foundation, and get other teams involved so there’s a lot of work ahead of us without too clear timelines now.

If things go right, first changes will be visible in Mews potentially in Q1. These changes won’t involve mixing rates yet but will include design changes on the reservation group that will bee the foundation for rate mixing.

Hey everyone!

Thank you for all your responses and time. This gave us a lot of insights into how we should create the first versions of rate mixing 👏

We’ll reach out again in a few weeks to gather another round of feedback once we have some designs prepared. Please, keep in mind that we’re approaching this initiative in phases and we want to incrementally deliver value to you all. If some functionalities won’t be immediately available, it doesn’t mean it won’t be included in later phases 🙌
