Hi everyone 👋,

Our team is currently designing a new experience for Customer Profile Match and Merge. We would like to invite you to test the design and collect your feedback.

If you have experience in handling duplicate profiles in the PMS, we would appreciate it if you could spare 10-15 minutes to participate in the test. Please feel free to share the test link with anyone you believe would be relevant for testing.

AI based profile sanitation would be very intriguing but i think the risk is just too high. Imagine the AI modifies your guest profiles in the background without you knowing … i think an algorithmic or ai system that notifies you for review is just fine, but thats just my opinion 😉.

I thought of this as well, then I thought of the common names and that we need to have some sort of threshold of when the AI are allowed to merge. It boiled down to that the best way is to have us as hoteliers to accept / approve the merge before it happens to have total controll of it. Like this is.

The hard part has been in my opinion to find all the duplicates and this really fixes this.

Could be expanded to not only search for duplicates but also data errors like bad formatted phone numbers, invalid emails or slightly wrong adresses to keep the customer database clean 🙌.

PS: Does Mews only search for 2 same profiles or also multiple? It is important to identify all same porfiles and not just 2

Like the feature, will save a lot of time in merging. However, it need to be clear which crteria is used for suggestion of merging. Especially when it comes to common names in different counteries, where lfirst and last name may be the same but it still are different guests.

Love this, very usefull! I would love more automation though - being able to automate the process based on specific criteria for your own property/properties. 

Is this merge option only for customers or also companies? That would be such a big help as well. 

Showing reservation data in the 2 similar profiles would be usefull as well - was it just the creation of a profile, or is there a (past, cancelled, checked-in, future) reservation attached?

Great feature (one that we were waiting for)

 

I agree with some of the comments : the merge shouldn’t be suggested only on base of common names. The date of birth in this particular case should always be the pivot for the Yes or No response to the merge suggestion

 

Can we also have the possibility to merge guest profile with company profile?

 

Anyway, please put us also on the Beta test for Hotel de la Couronne in Liège (Belgium)

Appreciate your positive feedback. The team is actively working on this topic. We will share updates once we have a Beta version to test in your demo environment. cc @coudert.mathias.

Regarding some of your suggestions:

Opportunity in AI and automation

Integrating AI is definitely something we’re looking into. Ensuring accuracy and supervised changes are key, as you suggested. Once we have this feature mature, progressively introducing automated merges is something we will also consider. This is part of our near-future plan, and we will keep you updated.💪
 

Applying this feature to profile data errors

I believe this is a valid case. We will bring this to the team for evaluation. cc @coudert.mathias 

Applying this to company profiles

We would need to investigate if there are significant needs and use cases.
If you don’t mind, could you share how often you have these needs and the specific use cases? @Daniel.Schleser @Sanne @smehia

We did include this info, but it requires a click to see it in the side panel. I will record a demo and send it to you to see if you have any suggestions. @Sanne 
 

Clarity on the merging criteria

The team is working on the criteria (and yes, Date of birth is one of them). Once the initial version is defined, we will provide a detailed guide explaining the criteria that you will be able to access.

I dont have numers but it happens quiet often. Imaginge somebody is only haveing reservations with booking.com or OTAS and it creates a new profile every reservation. So it should possible to look up all existing (same) profiles to ensure a proper flow.

Hi Laura, Thanks for the comment. We have considered the idea of removing duplicate suggestions. It is currently in the backlog, and we will evaluate this feature to determine if it can be prioritised in the next iteration. 💪

This could be a idea or perhaps as a scheduled report so a team could handle things ahead of arrival.
