I’m Laura, the PM for the Billing team.
Over the past few months, we’ve been working on several initiatives to improve ledger accuracy and reduce front-desk effort—specifically by cutting down the number of payments routed to unpaid items and deposits.
Before Christmas, we released default billing automation, which reduced payments/items routed to unpaid items from 60% to 10% 🎉. While this is a big improvement, we’d like to reduce this even further.
What we’re working on next
Currently, when payments or payment requests are added via the Payments tab, they’re routed to unpaid items. Our new approach requires users to select a bill when taking a payment, ensuring it’s organised correctly on the billing screen.
Users can select either owned or associated bills, making it quick and flexible—for example, charging a VCC on a guest profile while routing the payment directly to a company-owned bill when needed.
