🚀 Beta program: Default Billing Automation

Thanks to everyone who is helping us Beta test this feature so far, I wanted to flag a couple of known bugs which we are currently investigating:

• payments taken by payment plan are being routed to the unpaid items rather than the default bill when the bill is created through the booking engine.
• products routed from the PMS are creating separate bills per Service Order, rather than being routed to the main bill when there are multiple reservations in the group.

We are looking at these issues as a priority, but in the interim if these bugs concern you let me know if you would like me to disable the Beta for you.

Please add us to the Beta. The function is viewable in the system but if we add the Billing Automation by default for a reservation it is nor working.

Hi Marci, I have just enabled this new behaviour for you. The function you can see must be the standard Billing Automation, this new default billing automation is not so much something you can see in the system, more something that works in the background.

In connection with this new feature, I would like to ask a functional question:

We are a wellness hotel. Guests can use the spa area before check-in and after check-out. If, for example, drinks are consumed before moving into the room or after leaving the room, we always book them directly to the guest (paymaster). Unfortunately, these services are often forgotten when billing at the end of the day/stay, as they do not accumulate on an invoice with the other products of the room reservation. Would it therefore be possible to develop an invoice automation that merges services from Paymaster accounts with room reservation services?

Certainly not that easy but I thought I'd just ask, as you know how to inspire 😉

Thank you for everyone taking part in the Beta so far. One piece of common feedback we have received is regarding the default billing behaviour to associate the Travel Agency with the Bill. A couple of customers have commented that this creates problems for them and they would prefer that the default behaviour did not associate the Travel Agency with the guest bill.

We are looking at removing this behaviour specifically for Travel Agencies, but retaining it for companies.

Let me know if you have any opinions or thoughts on this topic.

Thanks to everyone who has taken part in this Beta, I wanted to confirm we will be progressing with rolling this feature out to all properties next week. 

Next steps for us is to address the few outstanding scenarios where payments are still being routed to the unpaid items:

• Payments added through the API
• Payments added through the payments tab
• Payments added through the payment request tab

We are prioritising addressing the adding of payments from the API as a priority, if a payment is added and is linked to a reservation then we will route it to the default bill. This should be released before the end of the year.

We will be updating the UI so when users add payments to the payments tab or payments request tab they will be required to specify the bill it is related to, we expect this to be delivered early in the new year.
