Hello Mews community!

We’re excited to bring you some recent industry news today. The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has released fresh data that shows positive strides in reducing the sector’s environmental impact. According to their report, in 2023, Travel & Tourism emissions accounted for 6.7% of global emissions, a significant drop from 7.8% in 2019. This is a great sign that our industry is finding ways to grow economically while simultaneously lowering its environmental footprint.

However, there’s still more work to be done. While we’re moving in the right direction, the WTTC is urging the industry to accelerate the shift to greener practices, particularly in the area of renewable energy. Despite some progress, fossil fuel dependence only dropped modestly from 90% in 2019 to 88.2% in 2023. To meet climate targets, we need to step up our game and push for bigger, bolder actions.
