How to hide room rate from confirmation when booking through an OTA?

Hello,

is there a way to hide the room rate on the reservation confirmation when the guest has made their booking through an OTA that will pay for the room with a VCC? Our issue is with Expedia bookings that are paid with Expedia VCC; and we receive Expedia reservations through iHotelier channel manager.

I know that there is a general setting to exclude reservation confirmation sending for bookings through a channel manager, and that the email editor has a condition ‘Unless there is a travel agency’ available, and that by configuring billing automation the room charges can be directed to the OTA.

  1. We do want to send the reservation confirmation to the guests booking through an OTA
  2. We would like exclude specific OTA bookings, like Expedia channel-collect bookings, from having the room rate displayed.
  3. I believe - I do NOT know as I haven’t tested this - the billing automation cannot be modified so that the room charges are routed to the OTA as this would disable the automated VCC payment handling: the VCC information is associated with the customer, not the OTA.

I do not know of any email editor condition that would be based on rate or rate category but this could be a solution were such a condition in existence.

Thanks in advance!

This article explains the newly added feature to have OTA Prepaid billing items moved from the guest bill to the agency hence not visible to the guest. I haven't tried it yet. Perhaps it helps? https://help.mews.com/s/article/How-to-assign-bills-to-owners-and-hide-Online-Travel-Agency-billing-information-from-guests-in-Mews-Kiosk?language=en_US&utm_source=beamer&utm_medium=standalone&utm_campaign=Maintain-Online-Travel-Agency-billing-privacy-at-Mews-Kiosk-with-improved-billing-automation&utm_content=textlink

Thanks Mark,

that indeed does the trick! I found this out by testing the billing automation, by assigning the OTA as the default bill owner. Thank you for your input!
