Hey Community-friends 👋

We thought it might be fun to know who’s who, while we’re actively engaging on our community. I’ll start!

The name’s Sarah. You may already know me but if not, I’m looking forward to getting to know you in this community. 😊  I’m the Senior Community Manager here at Mews. You’ll be seeing my face quite a bit around here as I’m responsible for moderating the communications in this community. That means I make sure information flows fast between customers and the product team and that no question goes unanswered.

I’ve worked in the SAAS industry for 6 years building and managing successful customer communities 👬 before I landed here at Mews in January 2022 - so, I’ve already got the community T-shirt, so to speak 👕

I’m based in a leafy county called Surrey in the UK - not far from London. I am married and we have two young daughters who keep me busy. Zen for me is being in the great outdoors, running, hugging a tree or doing a spot of gardening. What is your zen?

Hit me up if you have any questions, concerns or just to say hi! 👋

Now it’s your turn to tell us a bit about you.

Oh and btw,  remember to complete your profile 😉

Dear Community, hello to each and every one of you 😊

My name is Francesca, I’m italian and I’ve spent almost half my life living in France and Switzerland pursuing my career in hospitality for fifteen years.

Before joining Mews as a Technical Account Manger I’ve lived the operational side of hospitality in Hilton, Accor and Mövenpick among others, and I still think about my days at the front desk as the ones that taught me the most in life 😄

I’m looking forward to being part of this community, and am so excited and happy to see you all here.

cheers!

Hi! Karola, owner and landlady at Hindsæter (hindseter.no), a historical alp hotel in the mountains of Jotunheimen, Norway, 17 rooms/ alp suites. Newly onboarded and happy with a state of the arts system. Just between “omg will I ever manage” and “omg - all these fantastic opportunities”.

I love to be outdoors, cross country skiing, hiking, running, with or without doggy. Having a Beer sommelier certificate and do tastings and special recommendations for the guests.

No scandinavian group yet I see - so just wonder if there is someone else in Norway in the same situation?

Best regards, K.

Welcome Karola, happy to have you!

I just googled the Jotunheimen national park and it is absolutely stunning! 😍

Looking forward to your inputs in the community.

 @Karo  Welcome 👋
You are among friends.  We have other managers and owners here from properties in Norway.
Say hello to  @Anette Aale @oyvindeikaas @Haakon  @Finse1222 @dbarnesen @Bente

Thought I’d connect you all here. Feel free to start a separate conversation between you.
You say you’ve just onboarded @Karo . Perhaps someone has some hints or best practice to help you navigate these OMG moments.
Can someone give Karo some guidance in things that you wish you knew when you first started off with Mews?

Hei @Karo! and thanks @Sarah.Masterton-Brown for reminding me to engage a bit more in here 😁

I’ll be in the Scandinavian group with you! I have onboarded Det Lille Hotel (also in De Historiske) in 2022, have a good amount of experience now especially relating to Mews in Norway, integrations with the different systems here etc. We have also made some cool integrations of our own so reach out if you need any help or tips 😁

Snakkes.

Hi @dbarnesen thx for nice reply, I am gonna reach out to you on pm too... The main interest for me is related to accounting, we have an extern accounting office which uses a program without integration in Mews, so I wondered what kind of reports are the best ones to give to them, if one would usually just send them those reports or if the best practice is to give them a log-in. Would help to get some ideas here as that means money saved for the accounting office to find out...

Speak to you soon!

Hi all. My name is Carsten. I just turned 51 and I run my own Hotel and Restaurant for 24 years. Married, 2 kids and we live in Holzminden, thats near Hannover, Germany. We started with Mews in 2024 and I am still setting things up. Not an expert though…..trained chef and hotel business specialist, studied hotel economics 2 years. I am also a photographer with a small studio in the hotel and I do some electronics in my rare spare time. (radios and antennas and I talk to people worldwide, even in morse code. yes, it’s a bit nerdy. but I love that hobby for 35 years. (google DM9EE). I even have guests booking rooms to share the hobby.
Why I canged my PMS to MEWS ? I want everthing to be in auto-mode as much as it can. Self-Check in, incl. Keycards, etc…..Exporting Data to book keeping, statistics etc.. sounds not much, but it is still not accomplished.

Hello Everyone!

I’m Emilie, a proud Belgian living in the charming city of Mechelen and working in the university city of Leuven🌁

For over 15 years, I’ve been working in the dynamic world of hospitality ⛱️. My journey began within a family owned hotel group, where I wore many hats 🎩 — from Front Office  to Housekeeping, Revenue Management, and eventually taking on the role of General Manager. But after nearly 15 years, it was time for a fresh adventure. 🙌🏻

What became clear through it all was my true passion: Revenue Management 📊. I’ve since channeled all my energy into this exciting field, and now, I have the privilege of managing revenue for four properties (soon to be seven, as we’re rapidly expanding!). 🚀

One of the most exciting changes in our growth journey? We’re switching PMS systems, and I couldn’t be more thrilled that we’ve chosen Mews as our new partner.

When I’m not working, I like to keep things laid-back 😌. You’ll often find me unwinding at a wellness spa 💆🏼, diving into a good book 📚, or catching up with friends and family 💟. I’m also the proud caretaker of a pretty serious plant collection 🌵—a pandemic hobby that got a little out of hand when I found myself buying more plants than I could count!

Living a healthy lifestyle is important to me, and I love playing tennis 🎾 to stay active. But my most important role? Being a wife and mom to two amazing kids (a boy and a girl, who luckily get along really well! 💑). We love to travel 🛫, and ever since our big trip to the U.S., we’ve definitely caught the travel bug 🌍.

As for my pet peeve? I have a passion for finding solutions to complex problems 🔍—those creative workarounds that may not seem obvious at first but somehow just work 💡. I hope to pick up more tips and tricks here and share some of my own, so we can all grow and improve together! 🤝🏻

Hi @CJ7,

Welcome to the community!

Thank you for your post. It’s interesting to hear that you transitioned from Suite8 to Mews. I’m particularly curious about how this change has impacted your daily operations. Are there any specific features or aspects of Mews that you’ve found that made your life easier?

I look forward to connecting with you!

Hi everyone!

My name is Luis, I’m a Canarian from Tenerife who came to my lovely Denmark 8 years ago. I started in this country from the scratch, doing a lot of hard jobs until I was so Lucky that I got a wonderful employment as Service manager -nowadays building manager- in an urban planning and real estate development company called Square Meter ApS.

I love forests, mountains and wildlife, I enjoy a lot with fantasy and historical movies, and I’m married to a beautiful Danish lady, Ann Britt, who is sharing her sweetness and kindness with me, so I actually feel very fortunate.

All my work experience has been developed in the tourism industry in the Canary islands (hotels, excursions, guided tours, event halls, water parks, etc.), and also some years as administrative in Spanish banks.

I love to laugh, do PR with our tenants and be as helpful and organized as I can. I’m responsible for providers, digital access systems, tenants’ satisfaction, security, bookings for meeting rooms, parking spaces, etc. and getting the lobby bar and restaurant running smoothly and fine. In a couple of words, making our beautiful building Haus work, here in the heart of Copenhagen.

Hi @Luis MD !

Welcome, and thanks for sharing your story. Your journey from Tenerife to Denmark sounds very exciting—moving across countries and building a fulfilling career from the ground up is really inspiring.

I can definitely relate to your love for forests, mountains, and wildlife! 🌲⛺️

I loved Copenhagen when I visited, especially Reffen—it was a bomb for me as a foodie! But I’m just wondering—Denmark is beautiful, though is it a good match for someone who loves mountains? 😀

Looking forward to your community contributions!

Hi @MarketaOupi,

Thanks for the warm welcome 😊

And true, I’m just missing my Tenerife’s mountains here. But you know what? There are airplanes going directly there 😉😁

Hoyyyyy,

Name’s Dan, founder and director of The Arcade Hotel - worlds first geek & gaming hotel. We have digital and analogue games in all corners of the hotel including an extensive comic book an video game library which can be brought to your room.

Biggest challenges I’ve face in the last bit is about my tech stack and how it sometimes leaves me sleepless at night thinking if we did the right thing.

Been at this hotel thing for 20 years and before that a combo of event production and service industry.

I like long walks off short docks. I’m a Virgo but I retrograde in Gatorade.

Always up for a chat about anything hospitality related - tech, S&M (not the kinky stuff, the sh*t that sells stuff), operations, and and and…

Toodles.

Amster-Dan
