Hi folks,

We are new to MEWS and haven’t delved into Billing Automations yet. Can you offer some use cases? We are excited to use all its features! Savvy suggestions and feedback appreciated!

Thank you!

Rye

Hello Rye,

Great to hear you're starting to explore Billing Automation - we're in the early stages of doing the same. Due to our current setup, it’s going to take us a bit of time to fully readjust and implement everything, but we’re definitely seeing the potential.

One practical use case we’re looking at is handling Virtual Credit Cards (VCCs). MEWS can automatically charge these cards on the correct date (for example, on the check-in date), which helps eliminate manual steps and reduces the risk of missed or delayed charges.

Other valuable use cases we've come across include:

  • Pre-authorizations or deposits: Automatically process deposits or hold pre-auths based on the rate type or booking channel.

  • Company or travel agency billing: Route charges directly to company profiles or paymasters — ideal for regular corporate guests.

We’re happy to share insights as we go — and would love to hear how it works out for you too!

Hi Robin,

Do you have a link to instructions on how to set up each of these use cases? I am struggling to understand how to ask MEWS to

  1. automatically charge a VCC on the morning of arrival
  2. automatically charge a guest the day before arrival
  3. Take a preauth on a directly-booked reservation after online check-in is completed.

Thank you!

Rye
