Hi,

We just started using digital keys with our Salto locks. It is awesome… We do however anticipate the Wallet Keys to be the real game changer.

When it becomes available we will be leaning into it hard and pushing the the tech to our guests through our website, SM, email etc. and hopefully it will be the preffered way of unlocking our doors.

Would it be possible to get some more info about what the requirements will be to make use of Apple/Google Wallet keys, and when it becomes available? The next months, this year, next year, 2027?

Is the beta program already started? We would love to be a pilot.

Thank you!

Hi Olaberg

Great to hear the digital keys are working. We’re looking into whether we’re going to implement digital keys at our aparthotel in Cambridge. Is there any chance you might have some time for a quick chat to get an idea of what your experience with them has been like?

Many thanks

Sami

Hi Olaberg,

We’re in the same boat, we’ve recently started using Salto’s digital keys as well, and we’re very happy with the experience so far. It’s been smooth both for our team and for our guests.

That said, I completely agree with you: Wallet Keys will likely be the real turning point in wider adoption. The convenience and trust that come with Apple and Google Wallet are hard to beat, and I believe many guests will naturally gravitate toward that solution once it’s available.

We’re also very interested in more concrete information on availability and technical requirements. If there’s a beta program or pilot opportunity, we’d love to be considered as well.

Ivo

Yes, sure! But let’s wait a week or two after we had more feedback from our guests.

@olaberg @Sami Citystay @Ivo  Great to hear you’re all interested in wallet keys. The team have this on their Q3 2025 plan so hopefully no waiting til 2027 @olaberg !! 😊
I will say to just keep an eye on the Beta Program group for posts from the team so you can join the demo soon as it’s available.
Thanks

Thank you! Fantastic news @Sarah.Masterton-Brown😊

We’ll keep an eye up for the beta program.

Hi everyone,

I’m the Product Manager at Mews working on Digital Keys. It’s great to hear about the positive experience you’re having with the existing Digital Key solution, as well as the enthusiasm for Wallet keys. I’m always keen to hear further feedback as you spend more time with the Digital key solution!

However, I’m afraid the timing Sarah shared for Wallet keys is specifically for an Assa Abloy compatible solution. We’re always looking for opportunities to further expand the compatibility of Digital Key, but we have no firm timing we can share for any other providers at the moment. I have logged your interest in this though and am happy to help if you have any other questions or feedback.

Thank you, James

Thank you for the update @james.taylor. Sad to hear the coming Wallet release won’t include support for Salto locks.

Awesome work with Assa Abloy solution! From what I’ve heard it will result in something guests will love to use, and will be praised by both staff and guests as it is so cool and convenient. I’m pretty sure it will quickly become something everyone is going to want to use it instead of the rfid cards. I can imagine even the seniors will prefer it after being shown how it works.

The digital key solution for Salto Space is great, seems reliable and better than anything we have ever tried before. To make more guests check-in online, and make use of the digital key, we offer early check-in for all digital key users. It is awesome that the app notifies guests when the room is ready. For now it  still seems to be the secondary/alternative solution, and many digital key guests ask for an rfid card “just in case the tech fails”. It is a harder sell than just telling them to slap this thing on the lock and you are in.

Thank you for taking note of our interest.

I fully agree with this! Wallet sounds like a very valuable addition.

At the same time, I believe the market will need some time to get familiar with this new functionality. It will need to be adopted by our guests, which may take a bit of time and encouragement.

@olaberg What a great idea to offer early check-in as a perk for guests who use the digital key! If I may ask, have you automated this process, or is it still handled manually by the front office?
