When charging Secret Escapes Virtual cards in Mews, it's sending the guest a payment successful email, but does not for our other OTA virtual cards?

Hi @EmmaBowen ,

Thank you for reaching out to our Community. My name is Nic from the Mews Support team, and I'm happy to help you with your query.

The issue with Secret Escapes virtual cards stems from how Mews identifies a credit card as either "virtual" or "physical". Mews uses an internal list of cardholder names that are recognised as Virtual Credit Card (VCC) providers.

When a reservation is created and a card is added, the system checks the cardholder's name against this list. If the name doesn't match any of our recognised VCC providers, the card is treated as a "physical" card. Consequently, when a payment is successfully charged to this card, the system's standard behaviour is to trigger the "Successful payment" email to the guest.

We have recently received reports of this from other properties and have since updated our system to correctly identify these cards.

If you find that guests are still receiving these payment confirmation emails for Secret Escapes bookings even if these cards are updated as “virtual” credit cards, please open a ticket with our support team so we can investigate further.

Kind regards,

Nic
