Hi all,

How do you prevent minors from checking in independently via the Mews self check-in kiosk?

This past weekend, we experienced a situation at one of our properties where a minor checked in independently via the Mews kiosk, which is actually not legally allowed in our region. We'd like to avoid this happening again.

Does anyone know if there are settings, automations, or practical solutions within Mews to help prevent underage guests from checking in without supervision?

For example: ID checks, date of birth validation, or automatic alerts when an underage guest tries to check in?

Thanks!

Hi Emilie,

We have found this issue too, so far weare pushing the online check in so that we receive date of birth earlier.

On arrivals we think are underage we then leave their space as clean, not inspected, so they are unable to use the kiosk and will have to speak to the team.

I would be interested in other solutions!

@James.taylor this is actually something i dont believe we have discussed before, but a very good one. Do you have anything available at this time to avoid or prevent minors checking in by themselves?

Hi

Thank you for your insights and that is a smart workaround.

We rely quite heavily on the kiosk for check-ins, simply because we don’t have that much staff on site anymore. That makes it extra important for us to find a way to filter or flag underage guests before they reach the kiosk stage, or that they are blocked when trying to check in.
