Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find a simple and effective way to digitally collect guest signatures for registration cards using a tablet or phone, without having to print and scan the documents.

Currently, Mews sends the online check-in, and while many guests complete it, not all do. So when they arrive at reception, we scan their ID using the Mews scanner, which works great — but we quickly hit a wall:
➡️ There’s no way to collect a digital signature.
➡️ The only option is to print the registration card and scan it again with the signature.

Honestly, I’m surprised that Mews hasn’t built a simple solution for this yet.
And for those about to say "Mews Kiosk" — I get it, but not all hotels can afford the upgrade to that level. What would be great is something similar to the ID scanner tool, which opens the camera — but in this case, a feature that activates a signature pad on a tablet or the Mews terminal, where the guest can sign with their finger.

Does anyone know of a workaround or third-party solution that works with Mews in this scenario?

I don't know if I understand your question correctly, but I can tell you about our process.
In addition to the online check-in, where the guest fills in the data before arrival, we have tablets at reception on which the Mews Kiosk is set up in employee mode. 
We use this to check guests in and the guests enter their address and ID details themselves, we check the details and have the ID shown to us and the guest can sign on the tablet. This works great for us and we don't need an extra scanner.

Do you have a workaround for the problem with the check in time?
Before the room is ready and before check in time, it is not possible to let them fill there details in, or do Î miss something?

I just tried the check-in, although our check-in time is from 2 pm and I was able to enter data on the tablet and sign the registration form.

Ok, then it must be any kind of set up in our system. Just can’t find the error.
Do you know by any chance if you have set the possible check in time before 2pm with a few hours upfront?

i’m not sure if it is a part of the employee mode.
In addition, in the kiosk setting there is the option to enter a time limit of hours/minutes that guests can check in before the official time. This is empty for us, but maybe this will help.

Thanks for sharing your process — it sounds very efficient for larger setups.

As I mentioned in my post, the Mews Kiosk solution unfortunately doesn’t work for me. I’m a small seasonal property owner with only 30 rooms and open just a few months per year, so I can’t justify upgrading to a higher subscription tier just to collect guest signatures via a Mews Kiosk tablet.

There must be a more affordable alternative to collect the signature and necessary guest data in a simple and compliant way — without needing to invest in an extra module or subscription upgrade.

If anyone has found a lightweight solution for this, I’d love to hear about it.
