Hi there!

There is an “Import” button under the three-doted menu button in the Email template builder:

Does anybody know what that does? It opens a file open dialog where .json files can be selected, but what kind of json files are supposed to be imported?

I looked at the help file but found nothing explaining it. Or did I miss it?

Kind regards,

JP.

Hi @j.spiess

This option is particularly helpful if you’d like to use the same template across multiple bookable services.

For instance, if you customise the confirmation email and wish to apply that same design to other services, you can simply export the customised template and import it into the confirmation template of another bookable service.

It’s also useful if you prefer to create and refine your template in a demo environment, then import the final version into your live property.

Hope it helps!

Hi JP.,

there is also an Export-Button. Did you try it?

Kind regards,

Leif

Ahh.. Cool…

LG,

JP.

Now, I posted in German in an English thread 😬…

Let me put it in English, too:

Ahh... Cool... Thanks for pointing that out!!!
The export button only appears (logically, actually) once you have changed the template—I didn't know that, and it's not mentioned in the help section either... that's why I didn't understand it ;-)
So, can you use this function to quickly import a template adapted to the CI into the others? Has anyone tested this yet? Does it work well?
Best regards,
JP.

I have tested this and it is AWESOME for Multi Property, saves SO much time! Works perfectly; my only advice is to use MEWS fields where possible to customise to each property (property name etc) so that you don't have to change in every single template. Also be aware that different fields work for different emails, such as sign in links not being available for all templates etc, so if replicating across just one site, i would start with a simple layout template that you export and keep, then import and add custom fields and text in.

Either way this is a massive time saver for getting the basic layouts done across all email templates.

The export is in JSON format so be aware of this if editing manually as accidentally deleting or changing a piece of the coding can cause the whole template to go wrong. However you can directly edit the text and fields in the JSON template if you are aware of what needs to be edited - I have a client who avoided moving to new editor because of the work but when this came around, changing 30+ properties suddenly became only a day to generate the standard templates and update, instead of a day for each property building new templates and manually replicating!

I am very happy to hear about this function! Now we can finally start work on our email templates.
