fido2 security key authentication

Hello, our org does not permit the use of cellphones during working hours, so we are exploring alternative two-factor authentication methods. I can not see if Mews support FIDO2 security keys, or are there any plans to support them in the future?

Hello!

This topic has been discussed here heavily :-) … for example here

https://community.mews.com/mews-updates-38/mandatory-two-factor-authentication-is-coming-to-mews-here-s-why-it-matters-1217?tid=1217&fid=38

TL;DR: Hardware-Keys are still not possible at the moment, neither are passkeys or certificate based authentication. :-(
Currently only Email-2FA-Authentication is offered as an alternative to TOTP Codes, but that doesn’t solve your problem. There are hardware TOTP devices out there that you could buy for every employee, or a shared device that can hold multiple TOTP seeds … that’s just a separate device to hold your TOTP authenticator app.

Regards,

JP.

@jan_bg

Passkeys Incoming!

We're integrating passkeys as a new security method for login.

We'll be able to use them around Mid March

Hey @jan_bg,

We have a passkey beta out now. Would you be interested trying it out and giving us some feedback?
