Hey guys, 

Im back back with my anual question! 

At the moment, when someone checks in via the portal, their reservation does not automatically get started on the day of arrival.

Our third-party communication software now allows us to use the deep link for the Mews guest portal, so I’d like to switch to using the Mews guest portal instead.

I need the possibility to automatically start all reservations where guests have checked in online at their check-in time. Since everything is prepaid at our properties, this wouldn’t be an issue.

Is there a solution for this? That would be great!

Yes, this is possible with Mews.

 

You can set it up in the overview of your “Stay” bookable service.

 

In the settings, you can set the Check-in type to “Online check-in” and in Visit options, just click on the option: “Enable automatic check-in”

 

This way mews automatically change the status of the reservation to Checked-in at the pre-set time of arrival, according to your bookable service settings.

but will guest then also be checked-in when no check-in is done? or only when check-in in is done online? 


We are not using this feature yet in our hotel, so I cannot say from my personal experience, but when I asked the Mews chatbot about that, it confirmed that the system should automatically check-in (start) only those reservation that have completed the online check-in.

Thank you for the tag and apologies for my delay in response - was out of Office for a couple of days :) 

I’ve looked into this and I’m afraid to tell you the bot’s response here is incorrect. The automatic check-in functionality does not differ between if a reservation was checked in online, or not. When enabled, all reservations will be checked in automatically at the listed arrival time in the reservation.

I’m aware that we do have this split available for Automatic check-out. I am unsure as to if this is due to be implemented, so I’ll kindly ask ​@james.taylor to advise on that part :)

Hi, thank you for raising this question. 

As far as I know, there is no immediate plan to adjust the automatic check in capability to be conditional on online check in being completed.
