HI @JTJ46
You want to check if the Wallet Mobile Key (not the App - Bluetooth one) is already available with either key vendor.
My understanding is that it is available with Mews and Assa Abloy Vostio, but not yet with Salto, but I can be mistaken, as things move very quickly in this space.
Best, Marc
Thanks, Marc.
Actually, what I’m trying to figure out is whether anyone here has been in the same situation and already decided between one brand or the other. The products seem quite similar, but I’ve noticed that the last two hotels I stayed at — one in Italy and another in the UK — both used SALTO, which makes me wonder, since they were part of large hotel chains.
That said, I also understand that Assa Abloy is considered the market leader in smart locks, so I’m still a bit undecided.
KR, Javi
We use both systems at our customers and both are very reliable and considered market leaders. Here in Europe/Germany, they both have thousands of installations
Main differences in my experience:
- Handling of mobile keys (see my initial response)
- Potential connection to peripherals such as in-room components (AC etc.)
- Price
For both vendors, I would look at their cloud systems and not the on-premise ones anymore.
Does Salto already offer a (true) cloud-based solution specialised on hospitality?
My last info was the Salto KS is more for co-working spaces, … but not so much for hotels. I am unfortunately not aware of recent Salto developments.
I recently talked to someone who is using Vostio (Assa Abloy) with Mews Digital Key and he is very satisfied so far.
Hello!
I can only tell about our experience with AssaAbloy. We are using their locks since 23 (!!) years. Some doors still have the first mechanical lock installed, just the electronics have been updated/replaced over time (from mag stripe to RFID / NFC), so that we now run Vostio Cloud system with them.
I really like that they keep upgrade paths open for their hardware!
Rock solid - we have practically zero issues. Integration with MEWS Kiosk and Mews Commander works flawlessly.
Also, right now we are even in the process to get ready for Wallet Keys (NFC) - this is more an administrative challenge right now, than a technical one, as the process of onboarding to wallet keys has not been smoothed out - but I guess properties that will join the party later will find a smoother path to deployment. :-)
Regards,
Jean-Philipp.
