Expedia Direct Connect with MEWS

Hello, I have been live with the Expedia direct connect with MEWS and been working with support, but I keep getting different answers. I try it, it doesn’t work. I am looking for advice on setting up Expedia Collect and Hotel Collect mapping in market place.

We have 2 rate plans, 1 for Expedia Collect and 1 for Hotel Collect. I can only map 1 and I can only select Hotel Collect or Expedia collect.

If I use the Expedia Collect rate code with the collect type Expedia, then ALL bookings go to the Expedia Collect rate plan. Meaning, if a guest books Hotel Collect, it books in MEWS against Expedia Collect.

And, visa versa on that.

This has been a back and forth with support for a month and no solutions from support are fixing the issue.

Has anyone else found the right answer?

Hello @ericaet1,

hope you are doing well!

I was talking to our channel manager experts and they suggested a support ticket is the best option as it is a specific case, not a general one.

I was on holidays for the past ten days, so I wanted to check if the issue was already sorted, or if there is something I can do to help!

Let me know :)

Hi @ericaet1

Not 100% familiar how this is in the Mews Direct Connect, but when connecting with Channel Managers, you

  • can only map 1 rate code for rate and availability synchronization (we normally recommend the Hotel Collect)
  • but map any number of rates for incoming reservations only (no synchronize flag), where you would then map the Expedia Collect one, so that your incoming reservations are properly created

See the flag “Synchronized” under the Rate.

 Heya @ericaet1

Join this conversation a bit late - I had a similar challenge and have solved it by specific mapping

Requires creating rates for Hotel Collect &  Expedia Collect. Also when creating companies you will need to create the same company twice - once with Hotel Collect & again with Expedia Collect.

You have to hold your tongue in, for about an hour when creating everything, but once it’s done it will enable you to have really granular reporting for your production from Expedia - something the don’t even provide themselves.

 hope it works for you.

Nikolas
