We are sure you’ve seen the exciting announcement that a new Mews Kiosk is coming in early October. 

As valued members of the Community, we’d love to give exclusive early access to any customers that just can’t wait until the launch date to try the new Kiosk. 

 

What can I expect from the new Kiosk? 

 

There are several benefits and new capabilities with the Kiosk mentioned in our announcement. The new design, while significantly improved over the existing Kiosk, follows a familiar journey for check in and check out, minimising the need for teams to ‘re-learn’ the Kiosk.  

However, there are several new settings in the Kiosk configuration page that unlock some of the new capabilities: 

  • Images – Upload up to three images to better reflect your brand during Kiosk check in and check out. 

  • Check in grace period - Choose a time duration to allow guests a grace period within which they can check in through the Kiosk without being charged an early check in fee. 

  • Early check in fee – Select a product within your bookable service to use as an automatic charge for early check ins. Please note you need a Mews Terminal connected to your Kiosk to take payment for early check-in fees. 

  • Choose what guests need to find their reservation – Choose to let guests check in through Kiosk using only their last name when a unique reservation match can be found. 

  • Screen saver video URL – Provide a direct link to a MP4 video to use as your Kiosk screen saver after 10-minutes of inactivity. 

 

What do I need to do to get started? 

  1. Confirm any tablets running the Kiosk are using the latest version of the app (v3.19.0 or above) 

  1. Reply to this post with the property where you’d like to have the new Kiosk 

  1. I will confirm and aim to enable the new design for the property the following morning to minimise disruption during check in time 

  1. You will then be able to update any of the new settings to take advantage of the new capabilities

We are targeting the full release of the new Kiosk early next week, but I will still plan to enable this for your properties on Monday morning.

I have just enabled the new Kiosk design for your properties. This will updated within a few minutes for any devices running v3.19 of the Kiosk app and above.

@Grafpaper, I’m afraid this is not currently on the roadmap for Kiosk, but we are looking at how we can better support Markets without terminals in future.

I’d be happy to discuss with you further if you’d like.

Thanks, James. Yeah if you’ve got some time for a brief intro call, I’d appreciate it.

We love the kiosk but the inability to use some of the features because we can’t have a terminal is frustrating. Our local bank has a payment processing API that would allow us to use their terminals with the kiosk, so that would be another option, although I don’t think that’s supported either.
