In the world of sport, nothing is ever set in stone – strategies can evolve at any given moment. Likewise, your reservations could change. With Mews, all modifications are simplified to save you valuable time. You just need to know how to best use the necessary features and settings to stay in the game.
One of the most important settings is your editable history window. It determines how far in the past you can modify reservations. With Mews, no need for night auditing to finalise the day’s transactions, send fees and close accounts. All these operations are treated instantly. Additionally, the operational editable history window allows you to check-in reservations with a date in the past. Please note that the maximum number of editable days is currently 7 days.
This also means that you can cancel a reservation that has not been checked in, as long as you are still within your operational editable history window. It is important to keep the following in mind:
-
If you cancel a reservation with a closed bill, Mews automatically creates a rebate to cancel out the bill. After cancellation, Mews sets the consumption date of bill items to the date and time of their rebate. 🧾
-
You cannot cancel a reservation that is currently in-house. If a guest needs to leave early, shorten the reservation and proceed with the check-out process.
It is possible that Gareth Southgate might need to re-position a player on the pitch... and you might need to move a reservation to another space.
To do this, you will need to go to the reservation module, and then to the Properties tab.
Be careful, if you are in your Timeline, and you receive a message saying that the space category that you would like to move the reservation to is incorrect, this means that Mews considers it as an inferior category. Indeed, Mews PMS does not allow downgrades from the Timeline (drag-and-drop feature), but allows for upgrades.
During your guests’ arrivals, you can register any companions. When you create a reservation, it is like choosing your team captain, the main guest. To know the details of all players, the other guests, who will play the game, stay in the space, you will need to manually add them from the Group tab of the reservation module. You can also print blank registration cards for the guests who do not appear in the reservation.
Overbooking is never nice, however it can be understood, solved for, and avoided. You will see a red line appear in your Timeline. The overbookings will appear on top of the space category. To find them easily, the reservation report will be your best friend. To avoid them, you will need to determine your availability calculation strategy in your bookable service:
-
Select Diffusive if you want overbookings in lower space categories to take availability from higher space categories. This option helps prevent overbooking your whole property and allows Mews to reduce the next highest category’s inventory by one until the overbooking is fixed to avoid overselling.
-
Select Discrete if you want overbookings to affect only the availability of the overbooked space category. This option increases the risk of overbooking your whole property and only allows for manual resolution of the overbooking by the property.
Overbookings can also be caused by Booking.com’s auto-replenishment feature, which puts canceled spaces back up for sale on Booking.com immediately without waiting for an inventory update from Mews. It could be helpful to check your inventory updates.
Managing your reservations is made easy with Mews, you can quickly make any modifications you need so that you can spend more time creating remarkable experiences for your guests.
