Mews is starting to implement SEPA DD! we do this in small steps - first one-off than recurring model. We are looking for forgiving and enthusiastic customers that would benefit from SEPA one-off payment method.

Please give a shout if you are interested in having a chat with us about your specific needs for this payment method.

Hi Medina,

We would certainly be interested in the way that Mews is looking to SEPA DD.

HI @Medina.Vultur,

we would be interested to be beta partner for Sepa DD. as this still is a largly requested payment method in the DACH area, where our properties are located.

PS, would be great have the possibility to add a “security deposit” if this payment method is used by the guest. ex the guest has no CC to charge any incidentals

I'm curious how this would work for a flexible tariff reservation; would that DD have a certain expiry date to it? of basically only an ‘instant’ payment such as IDEAL?

Good morning Medina,

We would be interested in having this payment method enabled within the bèta program.
Is there already a sight on what this feature would cost? Does it work on a commission base, fixed cost per transaction,…?
We are interested in using this method for the payment of deposit invoices for big groups. However, if the pricing would be commission-based, it might be an expensive solution given the large amounts.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Medina,

Very interested in the SEPA beta as this would definitely enable our customers without Visa or Mastercard to make bookings. :-)

Hi there! Yes, we would love to provide SEPA payment solution for our guests. How could we join? Thanks. Christina Boutique Hotel Kugel Wien

@Medina.Vultur, Is it still possible to join the beta. @Roy from Zien Group has expressed interest.

YES!

We need this! One-off is a good start, and we DEFINITELY want join this beta ASAP!
Recurring SEPA payments will make life much easier for us in the DACH region.

I accidentally stumbled on the alternative payments integration mentioning this today, and have requested access through the premium support before I found this post. Please activate this for both our properties :)

Your timing couldn’t be better, we are actually in talks with an external booking engine, solely because they offer SEPA payments and Mews thusfar did not. We might stick with the Mews booking engine if you can make this happen ;)

@Medina.Vultur
We’ve just enabled the SEPA payments for our first property and are on the way with testing it.

First feedback:
As long as the status of the payment is “with the bank”, we are not able to cancel or refund it.
This might lead to problems if a guests cancels and our answer is: “we can issue a refund in 14 days”.

As long as the status is “with the bank” the payment does not appear in the billing screen. Which might lead to confusion in the accounting department as these accounts will appear to be unpaid.

I understand the risk of chargebacks on SEPA payments. However, we’d much prefer to have the workflow the same as a credit card. Where the status immidiately goes to ‘charged’, even though there is also still a chance for chargebacks.

A question from our side:
are you planning to add functionality to the API to allow for SEPA payment methods to be added to a customer from external sources?
So external check-in apps can collect the mandates and save them to Mews, in the same way this is now possible for credit cards.

Hi Andreas,

Thank you so much for your feedback and interrest in the product.

Unfortuantely  SEPA DD is a different type of payment method, that has a different workflow than cards, so implementing the same flow is not an option, it is a restriction from the banks. The banks themselves hold this status. If you find it not suitable for your business model, you can disable it. The Refunds should never be returned immediatly, due to the fraud issue. A user can always “chargeback” without you refunding and there is no delay in it, as the chargeback is immediat. The banks delay the refund to avoid dubble loss of money on your side. The chargebacks are also cheaper than cards, so no 15 euros applied.

For example, they made a payment, and the money is taken from their accoutn in 2 days - the ptoperty doesnt see this, because if it was a mistake or fraud, we wanna make sure. so if within these 8 bussiness days (when the transaction is marked as charged… you can refund from charge, not only from settled - settled is 14 max) the user chages their mind, they can always revert their payment, you see after With bank , status failed, and you can still resell that room.

Yes, we plan to expose SEPA DD via a public API in the next period

Please let me know if you have other questions.

Kind Regards,

Medina
