Do you have manual settlement rules which you would like settled during online check in?

We’ve recently allowed guests to pay for their upcoming automatic settlement rules during their online check in session - see the release note here.

We know that a number of customers would like to have more control over their payments by sending a payment request or using a terminal and are currently using manual settlement rules to manage this.

We’re looking for customers who use manual settlement rules and are happy for the guest to complete it using an on session payment during online check in to pilot this new feature.

 

What will guests see?

Guests will see the option to pay now for manual settlements during the online check-in.

 

How can I get started?

If you’d like to try this out, please reply to this thread with the property you’d like to try this out on.

Hi James,

we currently ask guests that cannot provide a creditcard to pay a security deposit(ex via Banktransfer) before arrival (we do not have a reception desk onsite) 

as there is no CC guarantee for those bookings, in case of incidental services and or damages

thanks for enabling this feature. 

The guest can select one of the existing payment methods to prepay, correct? Meaning credit card, Google Pay etc.? 
PS: An Integration of PayPal Payments would also be a benefit for our customers.

Our flexible rates are charged 3 days prior to arrival.
However, it happens that guests want to check in online before the 48h Before Start email. In that case, we send them the email manually, so they can already check in online. Will those guests also be able to choose whether they want to stick with the scheduled paymen (ie. 3 days) or if they want to pay now.

If so, then please go ahead and enable this feature.

If I understood your case correctly, I’m afraid this capability cannot currently take a pre-authorisation ahead of arrival in case of incidental services or damages.

Please let me know if I’ve missed anything though.

That’s correct! The guest can choose the payment card already provided, an alternative payment card or us Apple / Google Pay depending what’s enabled for your property.

I’ll also share the comment about PayPal with our Payments team. 🙂

That’s correct with a slight adjustment.

The guests are able to check-in online from the link in the confirmation email. We weren’t expecting for you to manually send emails to guests to offer them this early payment. I appreciate the timing of the ‘before start’ email and your flexible rate means that many reservations will already have been charged before the reminders are sent.

Am I correct in understanding that you would like to bring this forwards to encourage guests to pay before the payment automation has ran?

It happens that guests already request to check-in online before the Before Start email is sent. In that case we send the Before Start email earlier. Hence my question if that would also work. Alternatively, it would be great if we can change the time that the Before Start email is sent.

We’re using automatic settlements but I assume this will also work when the automatic settlement fails for some reason?

Also for guests who paid to the OTA and where we have only the VVC it would be useful so they can pay CityTax or other open bill items.

Hi @DirkVanGompel, in July we released the capability giving guests the choice to pay early for future automatic settlements during their online check-in. This is not specifically related to failed settlements, but you are correct that the guest would be given the choice to pay for any outstanding failed settlements from the past during online check-in.

Thank you for sharing the feedback for OTA reservations. Guests who booked through an OTA are not currently offered this option, but we will assess how these reservations can be included in future.

On second thought, could we try for all three (Duquesne, Chateaubriand and Petit Duquesne)?

I believe the settlement rules should now work on these three for our “Mirai” rates.

Hi James,

we would be interested in being able to amend / set Scheduled payments & preauthorizations.

for example we have one OTA who pays us a month after departure and now we need to add reminders for ourselves rather than being able to set this through a scheduled payment. 

No, we can’t use the set up in rates as they book different rates on different cancellation policies (non refundable / same day cxl / etc) and pay us a month after departure regardless.
