Invitation to Beta Test: Improved Payment Routing in Mews
We're excited to invite properties to join the beta test for our new payment routing feature —part of our ongoing effort to enhance the default billing experience in Mews.
This update aims to boost front desk efficiency by automatically routing payments to the bill containing the related items, rather than to the unpaid items. This resolves several common challenges, such as:

Virtual credit card (VCC) payments landing on the guest's unpaid items instead of the OTA bill, when room nights have been routed there

Payments being sent to unpaid items when the relevant charges are on a bill created by billing automation

Payments being sent to unpaid items when the relevant charges have already been manually moved to a bill

By ensuring that payments are directed to the correct bill, you’ll save staff time, reduce billing errors, and improve the overall guest experience with smoother payment reconciliation.

We have VCC for Secret Escapes bookings which are linked to the guest profile, the night charge will be routed to the company profile. Will the VCC be automatically charged (if we have applied this policy) and then also routed to the company profile with the oivernight stay charges?

Great, I will add you to the list. Yes, absolutely this is one of the main use cases we wanted to solve! The VCC will be automatically charged (assuming you have applied the policy), the payment will be taken using the VCC stored on the guest profile but the payment will be routed to the bill on the company profile if this is where the related reservation/items is.

No this does not apply if the payment is manually charged, it only applies when the payment is automatically added by the system.

What happens with the payment when billing automation routes the room revenue to a Booking.com bill (owner is still the guest, but associated with Bookin.com), but the city tax remains on the unpaid/deposit bill to be paid by the guest?
In this case, the room charge should be paid via the VCC on the bill of Booking.com and the city tax on the unpaid/deposit bill by the guest. We split the bills accordingly, will the VCC payment now be routed directly to the Booking.com bill with this new feature?

This is actually one of the key use cases we want to resolve. In the case of a VCC payment we will route the payment to the bill containing the nights of the reservation.
