Hey Mews community 🙌

I’m excited to announce that we’ve completed the split reservation functionality. Now, when a guest extends their stay, you can create a new reservation with just 2 clicks, while keeping all the original reservation details intact in Mews Operations.

As part of this update, we’re also displaying calculated cancellation fees based on your set cancellation policies when shortening a reservation or adjusting the assigned category.

What’s in it for you:

  • Simplified reservation date management
  • Effortless split reservations for extended stays with automatic reservation creation
  • Enhanced operational control for properties managing corporate contracts and strict payment agreements
  • Greater transparency on cancellation fees when dates or assigned categories change

How can you get started?

  • To get early access in your Live environment, please comment below with your property name or Enterprise ID and we will start activating the beta on your property.

Please add your thoughts and feedback in the comments, we’d love to hear you and make it work for you!

Thank you!

@daniel.do would it be possible to enable it as well in our demo for Bob W staging telliskivi? (so we can test it on our backend logics) Thanks!

Hello Daniel! We want to test it for Amistat City Hostel. Thank you

Question about the split. Currently splitting makes you a misery on bills when charges are separated by companies or agencies. Has this been fixed? After the split in billing is each charge still respected on the bill as it was before the split?

Hi Daniel, that does sound like a big improvement.

We would like to join the early access phase with all of our properties. Do you need each property name, or is “ipartment” as the chain name sufficient?

Is it possible to choose the status for the newly created reservation? For example to have it as an optional booking at first, for the guest to actively confirm the new reservation through a quotation mail.

Hey Thomas :)

Thanks for the feedback! We are confirming the reservation when you split the reservation. Do you see use cases where you want to make it optional first?

I have the chain IDs so I don’t need each property name. Once you confirm it’s fine even without the optionalstatus, I’ll enable it on production for you.

Dear Daniel,

Yes, for our workflow it would be perfect to start with an optional booking and have it confirmed by the guest or the booker. As we often deal with long term guests, extensions or adjacend bookings are pretty common with us. Considering the number of nights blocked by a booking and the amount of revenue connected with it, we prefer the guest or the booker (company) needing to actively confirm a reservation and its (terms and) conditions. This simply adds a layer of security for us and strengthens the basis for invoicing. (Prior to the change to MEWS we had every guest sign a lease agreement).

Perhaps we can discuss this topic further over the next few weeks.

Nonetheless, I like this feature even with out this option (at this early state). Yes, we would like to have it enabled.

All the best,

Hey @T.Pohl @Horacio Amistat City, I added your properties to beta testing on production 🙂 Let me know if you have any further feedback!

@Femke I enabled it on your demo environment as well

We didn’t do any changes to the billing itself. When a reservation is split, it’s a part of the group reservation and whatever comes on the bill, depends on who is the owner of the bill items. In a case where you have a reservation under a corporate rate with assigned OTA/company, the split reservation is only going the original’s reservation info, mainly the customer, and any items will be added to his opened bill.

Nice. Still I can’t see this option, to split o future reservation.

Hello @daniel.do

If possible, we would like to test this functionality at Wot Lisbon Patio.

Thank you,

Lucas

@Kayleigh @ReservationsFashion @dvdb interested?

Yes, this sounds interesting!

@Horacio Amistat City I enabled the functionality for you in the AMISTAT City Hostel BARCELONA property on production. Can you please double-check?

Works and we like it!

Hello @daniel.do , I confirm that the feature is already appearing for me, but I have a question.

I was running some tests, and I had a reservation with the bed & breakfast rate (used only on the OTAs), but when I extended the stay, the system created a new reservation using the same rate. Would it be possible to define a rule or use the property settings to determine which rate to apply in these cases? Because for extensions made directly at the front desk, we use the property's rate, which is cheaper than the b&b.

Hey @hockhaynner, the Bed & Breakfast rate is applied because it’s set in your property as a default rate. When the new reservation is created, you can then change it in the pricing at least for now. Does that solve your problem or how much of an issue is this for you?

Hello @daniel.do !

I would suggest that for an extension of a reservations instead of the property’s default rate, the same rate as in the original reservation should be applied - that seems more logical to me…

Kind regards,

JP.

Hello!

I just wanted to use this feature to extend a future reservation, but it just gave me an “Unexpected Error Occured” … The reservations was for next year and it was part of a group of several rooms.

Kind regards,

JP.

@j.spiess Let’s discuss it in DMs :)
