Can I send a customer a link via Mews that he can provide his credit card details in a secured way?


Such as at online check in, but it does not make any sense to send a customer a request for online check in if his stay will only be in some months…

 

Most guests don’t want to provide their credit card details by phone, mail or so and we don’t want to implement another system because Mews seems to be able to provide such a link. It would just be great to have it already before. 

I also tried to figure out a way that the guest is asked when confirming an offer with the {signIn} - but I didn’t manage.

I can't think of any other way besides using the online check-in form.
Sending a payment request will create an actual payment, but perhaps you could request the lowest possible amount - just to retrieve the credit card details?
I agree that having a card verification link would be a great feature for guests who book directly via phone or email.

At the moment we just ask guests to prepay the first night - in case they cancel, we have to refund it. 

I’ve seen also in the Mews-Feedback-Forum, that this is already an idea to upvote but already since quite some time it seems. It would be great if you could also upvote for this idea: An optional booking to be confirmed only with a credit card – Welcome to the Product Ideas Forum

The payment request link as mentioned is directly requesting a payment from the guest. However, when sending the confirmation, guests will have the option to add information including their credit card details. You can configure to “require payment details during online check-in” in your rate group settings and if the payment is not required - for example for flexible rate, guests will be informed that they will not be charged at that moment. Please note that online check-in email will only be sent to guests 48hrs before the arrival date.

Hey! 

We use an external provider for guest communication, which has so far prevented us from including the OCI link in our messaging.

However, I recently received information that the OCI link can now be shared via the Connector API, so we are currently exploring our options with our CRM provider.

Hi Nicolai,

Thank you for your answer. I know that I can configure these details for the online check in process. But I don’t want guests to do the online check in months before they arrive. That does not make any sense, as they could still cancel their booking but we’ll have a signed registration form from them.
It would be better if the possibility for the online check in opens up only some days before the arrival date, but before that, we can send a link to the guests requesting for their credit card details or other information such as address, phone number or accompanying guests.
