I'm looking for the best way to assign certain rooms last - unfortunately the chatbot doesn't help me much. Our elevator in one part of the building is broken and of course we want to assign these rooms last - but it's only about a certain part of the building and therefore the assignment “from bottom to top” is not what I'm looking for. In our old system, we always created a contingent tentatively, which didn't affect availability. These rooms were then only allocated accordingly if no other free rooms were available in the respective category, and I am quickly looking for a similar solution.

Hi Sonja,
Thank you for your comment.
As you may already know, Mews offers different types of assignment strategies in the Bookable service options. You have mentioned the method “Bottom up” isn’t correct given the circumstances. Let me break down how this method works and how I think it could be fixed for your property.
Based on the information provided in this article, the “Bottom up” assignment rule works like this:
Select Bottom up if you want Mews to assign reservations to spaces in ascending order, from the lowest floor number to the highest.
This means that - if correctly mapped - space number 301 will always be picked before 401, assuming 301 is 3rd floor and 401 is 4th floor.
Now, how could you correct this as a temporary (or even permanent) solution?
You have detected certain spaces that are less accessible due to the elevator issue. I would suggest assigning those spaces to a higher floor number than you highest floor.
For instance, let’s imagine my property is a 6-storey building going from 1 to 6. I would assign floor 7 on those spaces I wish to be assigned the last.
You can modify the Floor number of each space individually, by going through Main menu > Settings > Property > Space configuration > Spaces.
As mentioned, this might only be a temporary solution you can set up immediately. I’d always suggest testing it on space before making the big update to the rest.
Let us know if you find this suitable at the moment.
Best regards,
Iván
Thank you, Ivan - that seems like the best way to solve it temporarily :)
