Is there a way to disable the pre arrival e-mail that is sent the morning of arrival.

I know that there is a option in the bookable service but i am not sure if this deactivates both the mail two days before arrival and the mail on the day of arrival.

Is there a way to disable only the mailing on the day of arrival?

Hi @jones.eth! The Before Start Reminder can not be disabled separately from the Before Start.

So if you have Before Start enabled, the Before Start Reminder is also automatically enabled unfortunately. It would be great if we could disable it separately.

Thanks @Sanne. Thats a real bummer 🙈.

It seems not really useful that in that reminder email the guest is directed to the checkin again even though they may have completed that already.

Hi @jones.eth I agree! I just upvoted this idea, maybe you can do the same? Disable before start reminder email – Welcome to the Product Ideas Forum (mews.com)

Hi @jones.eth and @Sanne !

The reminder e-mail is only sent if guests did not follow the instructions of the previous email and did not complete their online check in.

Just like (for those hotels that have the package) the SMS reminder for online check in is only sent to guests who, until that point, did not finish their online check in - therefore only messaging guests to whom that message is relevant.

With that said, I agree that this email should be optional for the hotel to decide to send or not. Thanks for upvoting the idea - we keep an eye on those and try to see when is the right opportunity to address that improvement. 💙

Cheers!

@ettore.zotarelli thanks for the feedback. What exactly means “not following the instructions”? Does this include the credit card step too?

We plan to change the contents of the reminder email to prevent duplicate contents. It would be great to know in which scenario this email gets sent and in which not.

@ettore.zotarelli i proposed the idea let us change the state (enabled/disabled) of the mailings directly in the mailing template screen and not in some options anywhere else. You could do both really and it triggers the associated field wherever it is set for this mailing. It would be better even if you could just see it that mailing is activated or not.

Also it would be great if you guys expand some of the placeholders. For example {arrivalDate}, {departureDate} and {reservationDuration} would be nice to have in all emails that have {reservationDetailsHtml}. Some kind of condition syntax would be really helpful too.

@jones.eth you're reading my mind about the emails 😉 indeed I would love to offer more and more consistent placeholders, a single place to enable/disable them right there (when you're thinking about emails, you shouldn't need to go to another page).

We are studying all that we can do, but unfortunately we have not yet found the right moment to kick off this project off as it will be quite large.

About the online check in, it is when someone went all the way to the end of the check in journey via the guest portal. The mandatory steps depend on your property's legal environment and settings - and at the moment includes the credit card step (this will change! Properties will soon be able to select that guests can skip the payment step!).

The ones that will not receive the email are recognized in the system as "online check-in" - on the dashboard and inside reservation details.

Hope this helps!

Yours,

Hey @ettore.zotarelli thats very helpful indeed 😊.

That the credit card step is part is mandatory is unfortunate because many persons in germany dont have a credit card so it doesn’t help to remind them to add something the don’t posess. Glad that this is changing soon.
