Can we override restrictions from the PMS?

Hi, we have a restriction enabling a 2 night min at weekends (ie always on restriction which is closed to stay Fridays & Saturdays, with an exception of 2 nights).

Occassionally we have a gap - eg. a Friday night where the Thursday before and the Sat, Sun after is booked.

How can we permit that booking to be made.  I have tried to remove the restriction to make the booking and put it back in, but it doesn’t work and seems very complicated.  Does anyone know if there an override function for employees with permissions?  I can’t see anything in knowlegde base.

Thank you very much

Georgina

Hi Georgina,

We’re strugling with the same thing.

An easier work around might be to overbook for 2 nights and then shorten the reservation to 1. With this, there is no need to remove the restrictions and enter them back.

I 100% agree that overriding restrictions should be possible with employee permissions.

Regards,

Matthias

Hello @Georgina F,

Unfortunately I don’t know of any override function for restrictions.

Our hotels use the following work around: They create a new booking for another date (or for 2 night instead of one). Ones it saved you are able to change the booking to the actual date range that you would like, even if there are still restrictions in place.

Agreed - im afraid this is pretty much your choice of options Georgina

Thank you so much all for your help.  That’s an easier solution than messing around with the restrictions so that is really helpful, thank you.

I might pop this in as an idea if its a pain for everybody!

Thank you again!

Hi @Georgina F

As Milou & MatthiasH have pointed out, one method is to first establish a reservation that complies with the given restrictions, then adjust it post-confirmation. Alternatively, you could set up a private rate derived from your BAR that is not included in these restrictions. This would enable the 1-night reservation to proceed without hindrance.

Hope that helps
