Booking for Someone Else and Billing

Hi,

It seems when someone using the Mews booking engine and chooses the option “I´m Booking for Someone Else”, Mews automatically invoices the “Booker” instead of the “Guest”.

We do not want to invoice Bookers, but rather the Guest, regardless of who makes the booking as the Guest will be responsible for the payment. Besides manually moving the charges, is there any way to automate this?

Alternatively, can we simply remove the “I’m booking for someone else” field from the booking engine?

This is a feature we are using and our guests booking online are also using the way we understand it to be. It is weird the bill is being “Owned by” the Booker without the individual the reservation is for even being associated with the Bill.

Is there a way to make the Bill Owned by the individual the reservation/stay is going to be consumed by but Associated with the Booker?

We agree with AlexMPH - the bill should be Owned by the individual the reservation/stay is going to be consumed by but Associated with the Booker.

Hello dear community members,

Thank you so much for the feedback and the engagement. We see this problem in multiple aspects :

  • From a payment perspective, a billing address needs to be connected to the one that pays. in this case it is the booker . I believe this is very much mandatory for taxes purposes as well. It is just like when someone buys a flying ticket for another passenger. the tickets is on someone else’s name, they check in, but the billing will be sent to the one that pays . We are currently in the processes of redesigning the payment flow experience, and we will be happy to have your feedback when we have a prototype ready.
  • About the billing issuing - we have an initiative for routing rules, which will allow you to issue a bill to a guest or a company, and to add different items to different payers. This is now being worked on as well, and we will be happy to involve you in a discovery interview or design validations.

Please let us know if you wish a more detailed conversation over a call on this topic. We are happy to assist.

Kind Regards,

Medina

Hello @Medina.Vultur and thanks for your feedback. Regarding your point about a payment perspective, the current flow does not make it clear that the “booker” is also the “payer”. It could simply mean that the booker is doing the process but using a different credit card. In fact, the system asks for the “name on card” separate from the “booker” or “guest” name, implying that this could be a different person.

It seems easier to simply have the guest always make the booking and then if the “billing details” are different, the guest can choose this option and enter them separately. This is the case on many online ordering websites, such as Amazon for example, where you can buy a product but choose a different billing address if it is different than the “shipping address”.
