Heya

I am wondering if anyone knows how to map connecting rooms in the Assa Abloy Vostio key cutter, such that the keys you punch out opens both rooms in a connecting room set-up.

Example - Room 5 + 6 can be made to a connecting room “5+6”. Room “5+6” is the parent room for room 5 as well as room 6. When a client is staying in room 5 or room 6,  it is possible to punch individual keys for them. However when the reservation is assigned room “5+6” the key cutter cannot figure out how to make a key, which will access both room 5 & room 6.

Thanks for your feedback.

Hello!

We have switched to Vostio only last week, so my experience is limited. I believe it could be possible, if a “virutal” room is setup on the vostio side, which enables access to both rooms. Then you could map the PMS to the vostio virtual room number. But I don’t really know how to set it up in vostio - available documentation is limited and the system is not entirely self explaining 😉. I just know that we do have a virtual room that we use to give access to a common door (sauna) for external guests, but in theory this could work for your use case, too. You have to ask your Assa Abloy implementation partner to get a definitive answer.

Alternatively, you could use the vostio system (web app) directly to encode a card that locks both doors manually (just select both rooms for encoding the card in the vostio interface) - I believe you can encode up to 8 rooms on one key card. However your staff needs to have access to the vostio system in that case.

Keep us posted in case you get it working! I would be interested, too...

Good luck & kind regards,

JP.

Thanks JP.

The virtual room is created…. but Vostio cannot figure out how to allocate 2 locks to this room, and thereby give access.

Documentation is sparse.

I am in dialog with Assa & they are looking into it.
