Hi everyone,

How is everybody dealing with the legionella reporting within MEWS?

What kind of list are you using for it? And how are you managing that it is always correct?

Hi @Marissa,

We use a daily scheduled report of the Space Status for our hotels which works well. Mews follows EU regulations and therefore has set the trigger for a space to show the 'legionella’ status at 7 days. We would love to be able to set this tigger ourselves as we prefer 4 days. There are quite a few feature requests on the Product Ideas forum about this: https://feedback.mews.com/search?filter=ideas&query=legionella.

Would love to hear best practices from other hotels as well.

Hi Marissa,

We are using the roomstatus report. The night reception saves the report, where you can see which rooms have ‘dirty - legionella’  status. After the report is printed the rooms with the legionella status are set to clean (in order for housekeeping to have a clear view of the rooms that are really dirty). The rooms are checked and water run afterwards the rooms are put on inspected.

However, you have to really pay attention as Mews uses room status instead of room occupancy to check if rooms should be put on legionella status! So Mews looks if a room has been inspected for 7 days and if so puts the room into legionella status. It doesn’t look at occupancy!

We have some hotels that have studios or appartments that are only cleaned every week or every 3 days. We run into issues with the way Mews is setup. We already discussed this for a long time with Mews, they said it was fixed, but unfortunately is hasn’t been fixed uptil now.

Maybe you can use the timeline, however for reporting it’s not easy.

Hi Marissa,

We use the Room Status overview. The reception informs the housekeeping team which rooms should have the legionella check (running water for 10 min + fully inspect the room again).
There are just two small wishes:

1 Being able to adjust the number of night ourselves (we prefer 5 considering when the room gets really dusty and needs to be cleaned again)

2 Being able to see this Legionella status in the Mews Commander app. This way reception doesn’t need to check the reason for each room status + housekeeping doesn’t have to wait for reception to inform them.

Warm greetings from Relais & Châteaux Weeshuis Gouda!

Martine
