Hi Amsterdam colleagues,

As we all know the city tax will be increased from 7% to 12,5% and the € 3 tourism fee will no longer exist. How do you deal with the existing bookings?

In our hotels the city tax and tourism fee are added by the product rules. Our plan is to change the % in the city tax product as of 01-01-2024 and remove the tourism fee product from the product rules. However, for all existing reservations, the tourism fee product would not automatically be removed.

Has anyone figured out an easier way then going in to each reservation one by one and removing the tourism fee item?

Look forward hearing from you!

Kind regards,

Kayleigh

Hi Kayleigh,

You can follow these steps: How to handle City tax changes? (mews.com)

The reservations can be updated through a bulk update, done by Mews Support. Works really well! 🚀

Have a great day! 😃

Hi Sanne,

This just made my day 🙂!

So if I understand it correctly; with the bulk update both the tourism fee product would be removed and the city tax will be increased (after we changed this in the product rules)?

Kind regards,

Kayleigh

Hi Kayleigh,

Yes, that's how it works. It cancels the old product and add the new citytax product. I would let Support verify your settings before the Bulk Update is done, to make sure you took the right steps. Good luck! 👏🏻

Hello Sanne,

in Help.Mews I read that:

“”If you use the city tax specific to your region, for example, “Amsterdam”, “Vienna”, or “Marseille - 5-star property”, Mews automatically updates the city tax in the system. You don’t need to take any action””

This is the case for us (Amsterdam) but this has not been done for reservations In 2024 and the fixed amount + percentage still shows in existing reservations.  When will the bulk update be done then?

Cheers!

Steve

This will happen on the 1st January and a communication about this will go out shortly!
